Fylde Council needs to put a stop to the overdevelopment of our beautiful rural Fylde. Our roads, schools, healthcare services and local infrastructure simply cannot cope with this level of rapid growth. ❌

There are more suitable locations for development that do not come at the expense of residents' quality of life or the character of our communities. 🌳

This horrific attack in Belfast has shocked the nation. My thoughts are with the victim and his family as he fights for recovery.

The public deserves answers. If the suspect is a foreign national, there must be complete transparency about his immigration status and how he came to be in the UK. Public safety must always come before political sensitivities.

Secure borders, effective immigration enforcement and safe communities are not optional, they are the first duty of government.

Police say a man in his 30s, who is believed to be Sudanese, is in custody.

Enforcement action against Cuadrilla at Preston New Road

Since taking on mineral and waste planning under my Cabinet role, I've been clear: Lancashire County Council will not be taken advantage of by companies that ignore planning conditions or dodge their obligations. The days of weak enforcement are over.

Local residents have lived with this site for far too long. Work to remove infrastructure is now underway, but the clock is ticking.

The site must be fully restored within the required timeframe, and we will not hesitate to take further action if that doesn't happen.
It's time to get this land back to agricultural use, where it belongs.

Lancashire County Council has served an enforcement notice on Cuadrilla in relation to the Preston New Road site, requiring its restoration in line with approved planning conditions.

This case sends a clear message that we will not tolerate the sale of illegal to***co and unsafe va**ng products in Lancashire.

These goods undermine legitimate businesses, avoid paying significant amounts of tax and can pose serious health risks to our communities, including young people.

I would like to commend our Trading Standards officers for their thorough and determined investigation, which has uncovered a significant illegal operation, taken a large quantity of illicit goods off our streets and brought those responsible to justice.

A shop owner has been jailed after Trading Standards officers uncovered an illegal to***co and v**e operation in St Annes.

📢 HAVE YOUR SAY | Speed Limit Changes Proposed in Treales

Lancashire County Council is consulting on proposed changes to speed limits in Treales, including new 30mph limits on sections of Carr Lane, Church Road, The Orchard and Treales Road, as shown on the map below.

The aim is to extend the existing 30mph areas around the village and nearby residential properties.

As your County Councillor, I have until 3rd July 2026 to submit representations on behalf of local residents, but before I do, I want to hear from you.

👇 Please complete the survey below, and I will update residents with the outcome.

📢 Planning Update | Old Fire Station, Wesham

We've reviewed the application to convert the Old Fire Station on Station Road, Wesham, into an MOT testing station, and we're objecting on highway safety grounds.

Lancashire County Council's highways team and Wesham Town Council have raised serious concerns, including:

❌ Insufficient on-site parking for customers, staff and waiting vehicles

❌ Increased vehicle movements at an already complex and busy junction

❌ Risk of on-street parking spilling onto the footway, obstructing pedestrians

❌ Potential conflict with HGV traffic heading to the biscuit factory on Garstang Road South

The site simply can't safely accommodate the level of traffic this type of business would generate at that location.

But here's the thing: this is a brilliant spot with real potential. A café, local shop, or community business could absolutely thrive here and bring something genuinely positive to Wesham town centre that we all love. 🏘️☕

⚠️ Note: We're the highway authority; our role is to advise, not decide. The final decision rests with Fylde Borough Council, who we are urging to refuse this application.

🚧 Fleetwood Road, Wesham Surface Dressing Update

This week, we are carrying out surface dressing works on Fleetwood Road in Wesham, to the M55.

While potholes often grab the headlines, surface dressing is one of the most effective ways to prevent roads from deteriorating in the first place. By sealing the road surface and improving grip, it helps extend the life of the carriageway and reduces the need for more costly repairs in the future.

This is exactly the approach we're taking under Reform at Lancashire County Council: not just patching potholes but investing in our roads to keep them in good condition for years to come.

📍 The road will remain open throughout the works under stop-and-go traffic management, although there may be short delays.

📍 Works are being carried out in phases, with traffic management moving along the route to help maintain traffic flow.

📍 Working hours are generally between 8am and 6pm, although the team may carry out activities such as road sweeping outside these hours where it is safe and practical to do so.

Thank you to residents and motorists for your patience while these improvements are completed.

🚫 WESHAM SAYS NO 🚫

I've spoken to many residents in Wesham about these plans, and we're all saying the same thing: no.

Our rural communities have become the dumping ground for overdevelopment and underinvestment, while other areas continue to be prioritised.

Now, plans have been submitted for 128 new homes behind me, with no consultation with local residents beforehand.

This isn't about opposing every new home. It's about fairness, proper planning, and ensuring that infrastructure keeps pace with development. Our roads are already under pressure, local services are stretched, and every new development takes away more of the green spaces that define our communities.

If you agree that enough is enough, please sign and share the petition below. Together, we can send a clear message that Wesham's voice must be heard.

🔪 Knife Sales to Minors – Unacceptable Results from Across Lancashire

As part of Operation Sceptre, a joint operation between ourselves and Lancashire Police, volunteers aged just 14 to 16 visited 49 shops across the county in undercover test purchases.

The result? 12 out of 49 shops sold knives to underage volunteers. That's 1 in 4 retailers breaking the law.

It is illegal to sell knives to anyone under 18. There is simply no excuse for failing to carry out proper age checks.

✅ Businesses must take their responsibilities seriously.
✅ Age checks must be carried out – every time.
✅ Protecting young people is everyone's responsibility.

We will continue working with Lancashire Police to keep our communities safe.
