My lovely husband Phil was diagnosed on the 23rd of December 2013 with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. In January he was told that as the cancer had spread to his brain it was terminal and Chemotherapy could be given but only to prolong his life. Since then he has had 6 sessions of R-Chop chemotherapy but the follow up scans only showed a 35 -40 percent reduction in the masses in his abdomen and old kidney
s whereas the mass in his bowel had actually grown into a point and punctured his rectum leaving a hole. Phil was told on the 23rd May that there is nothing else they can do for him and it is just a matter of time now.
2 days before his scan in November 2013 we were introduced to our first granddaughter Chloe May, sister to Joshua. In February 2014 we were blessed with our third grandson Matthew Leon brother to Christopher John. We are just an ordinary family we don’t have huge amounts of money but have an abundance of love and happiness within our family and friends circles. We lost my sister and a brother in law three years ago and numerous other relatives and friends over the years. We really do want to help to raise money for Cancer Research to find as quickly as possible an end to this. All of you reading this who have been affected by the results albeit as a victim or as someone losing someone to this disease will know what we are going through. In 2005 Phil was given a kidney transplant we have never underestimated how much that has meant to us both he was so ill and was on dialysis and again his life was in jeopardy, but because of a family’s selflessness Phil was given an extension of life. He has always wanted to donate organs or anything that would help others receive this wonderful gift that we received. However the cancer has cruelly stolen his final wish so now his ‘bucket list’ is one thing – to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research to eradicate this awful disease. One aspect of Phil’s symptoms has meant he has to wear disposable Pants. The first time he put them on and I looked at him in them I cracked up laughing, the sight was so funny. Because of the shirring of elastic to hold them in place gives the effect of frills. We have come up with an idea that maybe we can show the world and Cancer that we are out to kick its butt. As a family we have all donned these pants to show our support for Phil, my husband, Stepdad, and Granddad and taken a few photos. We want to raise the money for Cancer research and get you all to donate as much as you can spare. Once we have reached our target figure we WILL post the photos for all to see and have a laugh. Please spread the word and support - Cancer is affecting us all but together we can stop it! Let’s kick Cancer in the Butt and support Philly’s Frillies.
