We are excited to be able to offer three FREE community Dementia Awareness sessions throughout Wealden. ๐Ÿ’š

Come along to our DISC Talks: Dementia- The Myths and Truths event and learn more about dementia in a friendly, in-person setting. This is a great chance to connect, ask questions, and discover ways to support those affected by Dementia.

Raising awareness within our communities is vital to help ensure that people living with dementia, and those who care for them, are understood, supported, and able to access the help they need as early as possible.๐Ÿ’š

To book your free space, email us at: [email protected] or book through eventbrite for the venue that suits you!

At our monthly Carer Support Groups we like to have a range of different speakers throughout the year. Recently we had the lovely Donna from NEA come along to explain all that they offer.

National Energy Action (NEA) is the national fuel poverty charity that works across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland for over 40 years, to ensure that everyone can afford to live in a warm, healthy home. Carers may face higher energy bills due to spending more time at home or needing to run medical equipment for the people that they care for. ๐Ÿ

If you have any questions about the energy in your home or your bills, please get in touch: https://www.nea.org.uk/get-help/

It's Dementia Action Week, this happens every year to spread Dementia awareness in our communities. It is estimated that 1 in 3 people living with Dementia do not have a diagnosis๐Ÿง

Here at DISC Dementia Support we do not require the person you care for to have a formal diagnosis. We see families wait up to 2 years for a diagnosis regularly and we do not want to waste time in giving support to those who are caring for someone living with Dementia in East Sussex.๐Ÿ’š

If you would like to support our work, you could nominate us for a Movement for Good Health & Wellbeing Special Draw and we could win a donation of ยฃ5,000. This donation would mean a lot to us and it would help us pay for our free Carer Support Groups.๐Ÿ’š

Click the link below, look us up:

Have you ever thought about how many steps it takes to make a cup of tea?๐Ÿซ–

In our Carer Information Courses we like to give carers different interactive group tasks and this is one of them. To make a simple cup of tea, something most of us do without thinking about, it takes a lot of steps and preparation.

The carers in this course said that this activity opened their eyes to how difficult or overwhelming this task could be for someone living with Dementia, especially if they live alone. ๐Ÿ’š
