Upcoming Events at Lytchett Matravers Library

There’s lots going on in the library this September, here’s a taster….

Now that Autumn has arrived, we are looking forward to celebrating The National
Year of Reading theme for October “Read Green, Live Green” which is a campaign
that highlights how we can be more eco-friendly, and conscious of our environment.

There will also be an event at the end of the month for children run by the Dorset
Council Recycling Team in the library (pop to the front desk to book your children in)
There will be fun activities such as;
• badge making
• making grass heads
• bean bag game

Don’t forget we have our regular free craft activity Creation Station for families and
children every Saturday morning which will be Autumn and Eco-Friendly themed
in October, so see you soon!

Nature Sounds with Upton Country Park at Lytchett Matravers Library!

Join us on Friday 28 August 2:30pm - 3:30pm for a wonderful wildlife-inspired activity as part of the Read to the Beat Summer Reading Challenge!

Discover the amazing sounds of Dorset's wildlife with the team from Upton Country Park and create your own animal noise makers to take home.

It's a fun, interactive and perfect for young nature lovers, You will learn about local wildlife sounds and make and take your own animal noise maker.

Taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge? Don't forget that attending this event earns you a special sticker for your collector folder, bringing you one step closer to completing the challenge

It's not too late to join the Summer Reading Challenge!
There's still plenty of time to take part and earn your fantastic rewards. The Summer Reading Challenge runs until 12 September,
so if you're already taking part, keep reading and see if you can complete all six books before the challenge ends.

If you have stickers still to collect, pop into the library and speak to a member of staff at the desk.
We're always happy to update your folder and celebrate your progress.

Finished reading all six books? Congratulations! Come and see us so we can give you your well-earned rewards
and pin your finisher's ticket to our musical-themed Finishers Board.
We love seeing our readers reach their goal, and we can't wait to add more tickets to the display over the coming weeks.

Join us at Lytchett Matravers Library this morning for our colourful Creation Station.

We'll be making a lovely paper chain sunshine wall hanging, perfect for brightening up your home.
It's a fun and relaxing activity for all ages, and everyone is welcome to come along and get creative.

There's still time to join in with the Summer Reading Challenge and collect your prizes at Lytchett Matravers Library.

Whether you've read 1 book or all 6, please do pop in and collect your stickers.
Our friendly staff at the desk will be happy to help you and make sure you receive the rewards you've earned.

A huge well done to all of our amazing children who have completed the challenge so far.
You've done a fantastic job and should be very proud of your reading achievements.

Join us at Lytchett Matravers Library every Tuesday for our fun and friendly Rhyme Time session.

Perfect for babies, toddlers and pre-school children, Rhyme Time is a wonderful opportunity for families
to enjoy stories, nursery rhymes and singing together in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Children can interact with our finger puppets, explore baby and toddler-friendly musical instruments,
play with colourful rainbow scarves and enjoy plenty of bubbles.

There's also a chance to meet Bookstart Bear and join in the fun with other local families.

Suitable from new-borns to pre-schoolers. Everyone is welcome, whether you're a regular
visitor or joining us for the first time.

Take a look at these photos from last week's Creation Station at Lytchett Matravers Library.
Our Under the Sea theme inspired some fantastic mermaid crafts and sea animal colouring, and
it was great to see so many families getting creative together.

Creation Station runs every Saturday, with a different theme and fun craft activities for all the family to enjoy.

This weekend, join us for a Summer Reading Challenge themed session all about comic books.
Explore our collection of children's graphic novels, design your own cartoon character,
and create a storyboard for your very own comic adventure.
