The New Forest has much to offer in terms of natural beauty and landscape. It has many secrets to discover for those who are prepared to walk a mile or so from the many available car parks. Visited by millions of day visitors and tourists each year, its tranquillity belies the fact that the area is steeped in history from Bronze A

ge barrows to preparations for D-Day. Its deer were hunted by Kings and a King was killed in the Forest whilst out hunting. Its timber provided ships for Nelson's fleet whilst its glades provided cover for smugglers. It has been home to a Gunpowder factory and "bouncing bombs" were tested across its heaths. All this and more lies out there to be discovered but, above all, it is the home to a rich variety of wildlife and an oasis of calm and tranquillity.

Happy Easter 🐣

If you are walking in the New Forest please remember to stay on the tracks and keep dogs under close control.

🐦 Doing so helps protect our rare ground nesting birds and their young, like this curlew chick.

Trick or tree! πŸ‘»πŸŒ²

The week after Halloween can be a scary time for wildlife, as pumpkins get dumped in the nation's forest!

Not only can they spread disease and make some species ill, but our team often find tealights left inside the flesh which could be ingested by animals! πŸŽƒ

Make sure you stay green this Halloween by reusing your pumpkin and opting for one of these sustainable suggestions πŸ‘‰ forestryeng.land/reuse-your-pumpkin

We're relieved that Marks and Spencer is now supporting our disposable BBQ campaign to help reduce & cut .

M&S said it is stopping selling disposable barbecues across the whole of the UK to protect open spaces and reduce the risks of wildfires during the heatwave.

M&S had already stopped selling disposable barbecues near national parks and in London but given the unusually hot and dry conditions, they said they were 'taking the precautionary step of removing them from sale across the UK.'

Co-op took the lead in 2021 when they stopped selling them in and around National Parks UK. In spring this year Aldi and Waitrose took them off sale nationwide to reduce wildfires and waste from the single use products.

Over 50 retailers in and around the are already supporting our campaign. Find out more and please demand that the few remaining retailers help protect the countryside and take them off the shelves.
