Lyndhurst Parish Calendar

Each year the parish council produce a calendar which is delivered free to ever house in the parish. The layout of the calendar was changed a couple of years ago due to requests for a family style Calendar. However, some people are not happy with the new layout.

Therefore, we are asking for your votes on which style you would like. We can only have one style printed due to the costs.

Please respond family or box below.

The closing date for votes will be the 30 June 2026.

Lyndhurst Cemetery car park.

The car park is licensed by Forestry England to Lyndhurst Parish Council. Last autumn, when Forestry England announced plans to introduce charges for its 129 car parks in the New Forest this did not include any car parks such as this one where a license or lease in place with another organisation. At that time Lyndhurst Parish Council raised concerns that having this car park free of charge would lead to the general public using the cemetery car park for their recreational visits to avoid payment in other car parks. It was felt that there was considerable risk that those visiting the cemetery would not be able to find a place to park. To mitigate the above risk it was agreed by both organisations that charges should also apply to this car park, with the exception of when funerals and other religious events are taking place.

Following subsequent concerns raised by plot holders at the cemetery, the parish council reviewed this matter and have worked closely with Forestry England to put in place appropriate exemptions from charges. This approach supports those visiting the cemetery and addresses the original risks regarding parking spaces being available for this purpose. Plot holders and their relatives can apply for exemptions from charges for this car park can apply via parish council’s websitehttps://www.lyndhurst-pc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/83/2026/06/Parking-pass-application.pdf

Online Shopping – Account Takeovers

The Police have received several reports from residents of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight who have lost money due to fraudulent orders placed via their online shopping accounts.
Criminals take over a victim’s account and place large orders using the victim’s stored card details. Luckily, many retailers send alerts when orders are placed so some residents have been able to act quickly to prevent losses – but not all.

This is not a new issue, regular readers will remember similar, previous alerts. Some Ocado customers seem to be affected – but it could happen at any time to anyone who shops online with any retailer.

Ocado have kindly issued a statement that includes reassurance to their customers that “there has been no data breach nor cyber-attack on their internal systems, databases or infrastructure…Our analysis shows that these incidents result from “credential stuffing” or similar where criminal reuse login details obtained from breaches from other third-party websites.”

Our advice to you is, as always, to use strong passwords, do not use the same passwords for different accounts, change passwords regularly, and do not store payment details on online shopping accounts.

For further advice about shopping safely online, please see: https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/guidance/shopping-online-securely

Please do share this important update with friends and family and encourage them to sign up for their own Hampshire Alert: https://www.hampshirealert.co.uk/

A quick heads-up for Hampshire residents.

Due to essential IT maintenance, Hampshire County Council’s website and some telephone services will be unavailable from 5pm on Friday 22 May until 11pm on Monday 25 May (the Bank Holiday weekend). Many online services will be temporarily affected during this time.

If you need to complete something online with the County Council, I’d strongly encourage you to do so before 5pm on Friday 22 May, or wait until services are restored on Tuesday 26 May.

Importantly, essential services will continue. Urgent safeguarding support will still be available, Household Waste Recycling Centre bookings can still be made through the HWRC website and app, libraries and country parks will remain open, and automated invoice payments will still operate as normal. Please also be extra cautious of scams – the County Council will not be contacting residents asking for sensitive information during this period.
