We have opened applications for local projects to benefit from funding.

Community groups, registered charities, schools and statutory infrastructure providers can apply for up to £100,000 towards their infrastructure project through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL).

Examples of previous projects funded (pictured) included improvements at East Boldre Village Hall, solar panels at Woodgreen Community Shop, a circular path in Fordingbridge, Lepe Country Park nature play area, and a bike shelter at Noadswood School.

We have a new Economic Development Strategy to support local businesses, create job opportunities, and strengthen the local economy, with Cabinet recommending it for approval on 3 June.

The strategy sets out a five-year plan to help businesses grow, improve skills, attract investment, and bring new life to town centres.

It builds on the New Forest’s strengths, including the visitor economy, marine industries and growing green technology sector.

The strategy will be considered at Council on 13 July.

You can read more about the strategy on the news section of our website.

🚍 New Bus Shelter Installed on Gorley Road

With thanks to funding from New Forest District Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Local Infrastructure Fund, a new larger bus shelter has been installed on Gorley Road, next to the local shopping parade.

The new, modern shelter provides:

▪️Improved protection from the weather
▪️Upgraded seating
▪️Better accessibility for all users

The bus stop is well used by local residents, including those travelling on the Ringo circular routes, so this upgrade will make a real difference to comfort, safety, and accessibility.

A big thank you to New Forest District Council for supporting this project and helping us improve local transport infrastructure for our community. 🚌

Coastal works starting in Milford on Sea: From Monday 8 June, we’re starting essential coastal works just east of Hurst Road East car park.

This will include repairing sections of the concrete seawall, and adding rock to improve the revetment, which helps protect the seawall.

This maintenance will help strengthen the existing defences and reduce the risk of future damage.

This is the second phase of repairs, following work completed in November 2025.

While the work is taking place, a section of Hurst Road East car park will be closed so lorries can safely deliver equipment and to allow set-up of large machinery, including a 130-tonne long reach excavator.

If you’re visiting, please follow the signs on site and any instructions from staff.

Find out more about the coastal works on our website.
