A public exhibition about revised proposals for The 3 Cups Hotel is due to take place on 📅 Wednesday, 9th September between 4pm and 8pm at 📍 Lyme Regis Football Club.

Drawings regarding proposed amendments to the currently approved scheme for the redevelopment of the former 3 Cups Hotel in Lyme Regis have been completed, and as a result the Developers and their partners, current site owners Palmers Brewery, have organised a public exhibition.

Anyone who wishes to see the revised proposals is welcome to attend.

LOCAL residents have called for an election to select a new town councillor.

A vacancy has become available on Lyme Regis Town Council following the resignation of Cllr Neil Hampton-Rumbold.

Neil’s personal circumstances mean he is no longer able to dedicate the time required to being a town councillor.

He said: “This has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, but my current personal circumstances require my full attention.

“Serving our community has been a distinct privilege, and I do not believe it is fair to the residents or to the council to remain in office when I cannot give the role the justice, time, and energy it truly deserves.

“I am deeply grateful for the support and guidance I have experienced from my fellow councillors and the council staff during my time in office. I wish the council every success in its future initiatives and ongoing work for our town.”

Notice of a councillor vacancy was given on 1 September and Dorset Council has now confirmed it has received at least 10 requests for an election to be held.

Dorset Council is yet to confirm the election timetable.

We would like to say a huge thank you to town clerk, John Wright for his dedicated service to Lyme Regis and the town council over the past 14 years.

John has played a significant part in the life of the council and the town during that time, working alongside staff, councillors and community groups and organisations to deliver projects, events and services for Lyme Regis.

We were delighted to bring together colleagues past and present, councillors and representatives from many of the groups and organisations we work closely with to wish John the very best for his future and thank him for everything he has contributed.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us to mark the occasion and helped us give John the send-off he deserves.

John's last day in service to the town will be Wednesday 9 September.

From all of us at Lyme Regis Town Council - thank you, John, and the very best of luck for whatever comes next!

Please note that the town council offices will be closed today (Friday 4 September) from 2:30pm to allow staff to come together to celebrate the Town Clerk, John Wright and his departure from Lyme Regis Town Council after 14 years of dedicated service to the town.

The Lyme Splash swimming event scheduled for this Sunday 6 September has been cancelled due to the weather forecast.

The safety of the swimmers and the volunteers providing safety cover is paramount.

The free parking at Woodmead car park on Sunday 6 September to support this event will still go ahead, despite the event being cancelled.

We are sorry to report that the Lyme Splash swimming event scheduled for this Sunday (6th September) has had to be cancelled due to weather.

Organisers have been monitoring weather forecasts for several days which have consistently indicated SSE winds up to Force 5. With the swim being held between Lyme Regis and Charmouth this is worst wind direction. The safety of swimmers and volunteers providing safety cover is paramount. A decision has been made now (72 hours before the event) to give people as much notice as possible.

All entrants are being contacted and will be given the option of deferring to next year's event or receiving a refund of their entry fee.

The RNLI's Fundraising & Partnership Lead Dave Nicholl said: 'We are obviously very disappointed to have to cancel this year's RNLI Lyme Splash Swim but the safety of our swimmers, and the volunteers who support the event, is paramount. Thank you to everyone who had entered or had offered to help. It is planned to hold next year's event earlier in the year when, hopefully, the weather will be more favourable'.

Pickleball: MUGA, Anning Road Playing field, Sunday 6th September between 2pm and 5pm - all welcome! 🥳

Temporary closure of Clappentail Lane, Lyme Regis.

Dorset Council has made an Order under section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 as amended.

All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Clappentail Lane, Lyme Regis between its junction with B3165 and the entrance to Halstock, a distance of approximately 310 metres.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 14 September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 26 September 2026.

This Order will enable South West Water to carry out the trial holes.

The alternative route, which will be sign posted is as follows; B3165 - A3052
