Ludlow Community First Responders

Ludlow Community First Responders Volunteers working alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service to provide life saving emergency care.

Ludlow Community First Responder Scheme was established in 2000, when volunteer schemes to support the ambulance service were first developed in Shropshire. Since then, our members have been active in the local community and surrounding areas. All of our CFR's are volunteers who have been trained in advanced first aid by West Midlands Ambulance Service, and make themselves available to ambulance c

ontrol to attend 999 emergencies in the local community, providing care and treatment until the arrival of a full time ambulance resource. Our members can be called out from home, work, or even during a shopping trip! In addition to giving up their free time to attend emergency calls, our volunteers also commit many hours to training, scheme meetings, fundraising, and public relations events. Each Community First Responder scheme is self funding, and relies on their own fundraising, and the generosity of local businesses, individuals, and organisations for support, to ensure we can provide this essential service to the local community.

Your actions could help double someone’s chance of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

That’s why it’s vital everyone knows CPR ❤️

We’d like to say a big thank you to Andali Events for their generous donation. Every penny helps to keep us responding!

There is lots of demand on the ambulance service currently.

Please help us be there for those who need us most by only dialling 999 for emergencies and life-threatening situations.

For non-emergencies, please consider alternative options such as 111 or Pharmacy First, allowing us to respond to the patients who need us most as quickly as possible.

🌟Want to make a difference in your local community like Peter? 🌟

He's a volunteer Community First Responder in Telford and joined in 2021. Peter suffering a cardiac arrest in 2019 but early CPR by bystanders helped to save his life! He applied to become a CFR once fully recovered as he wanted to be involved in a scheme to not only promote vital skills to other people and raise awareness about early intervention, but also to help members of the public.

CFRs are trained members of the public who play a vital role in getting to life-threatening 9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣calls in the community in those vital minutes, such as cardiac arrests, heart attacks, strokes and breathing difficulties, to provide definitive care and complement our 🚑 staff. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be a CFR like Peter, we’re currently recruiting for volunteers in the following areas:

📍 Worcestershire
📍 Coventry and Warwickshire
📍 Staffordshire
📍 Birmingham
📍 Shropshire
📍 Black Country

Would you know the difference between a heart attack and cardiac arrest?

Knowing what to do in each situation could be crucial in ensuring you provide the right level of care to the patient and help give them the best chance to survive.
