A very emotional drill night for the team at Ludlow Fire Station last night as we celebrated the retirement of Watch Manager Glynn Davies, who hangs up his fire kit for the very last time today.

25-11-1994 - 31-05-2026

Glynn has dedicated an incredible 31.5 years of service to the community of Ludlow, helping those in need, protecting lives and property, and serving with professionalism, commitment and pride throughout his career.

This outstanding achievement has only been possible with the unwavering support of his family, friends and colleagues, who have been by his side throughout his Fire Service journey.

Over the years, Glynn has made a lasting impact on Ludlow Fire Station and our community, not only through his operational service but also through the guidance, support and development he has provided to countless firefighters and colleagues.

On behalf of everyone at Ludlow Fire Station, thank you for your dedication, leadership and friendship.

We wish you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.

Enjoy every minute Gaffer – you've certainly earned it. πŸš’πŸ‘

Yesterday morning at approximately 10:45am, our crew were mobilised to reports of a house fire within the town.

Whilst firefighters were responding to the station from their homes and places of work, it was evident that this was a well-developed fire πŸ”₯ with large plumes of black smoke visible across the local area.

Thanks to the quick thinking, professionalism, and outstanding actions of our firefighters, the fire was successfully contained, limiting damage to the remainder of the property and preventing further fire spread to neighbouring homes.

The fire involved an external shed large conservatory and living room area.

We were assisted at the incident by our colleagues from Church Stretton Fire Station, Leintwardine Fire Station Leominster Fire Station and other specialist appliances and officers from around our county.

Thank you for your support and teamwork throughout the incident πŸ™

We are pleased to confirm that there were no injuries reported.

This incident also highlights two extremely important fire safety messages:

🚨 Ensure you have working smoke alarms fitted within your property.

πŸšͺ Close internal doors whenever possible.

As shown in the photographs below, a living room door which had been closed after the fire started significantly reduced smoke damage throughout the property and helped prevent further fire spread.

A simple action such as closing a door can make a huge difference in protecting lives and property.

The images shared have been authorised by the property owners to support fire safety awareness and help spread this important message within our community.

Thank you to the local community for your patience whilst crews remained on scene carrying out firefighting operations, damping down, and re-inspection work throughout the day. πŸš’πŸ”₯

On behalf of everyone at Ludlow, we would like to thank Sam for his service, dedication, and friendship over the years.

πŸš’ Important Notice – Please Keep Our Station Entrance Clear πŸš’

We kindly ask all members of the public to avoid parking or stopping in front of Ludlow Fire Station.

Blocking our entrance, even for a short time, can delay our crews from getting to the station and responding to emergency calls.

Every second counts when lives and property are at risk.

With the temporary three-way traffic control system now in place , it’s even more important that our access remains completely clear so we can respond without any unnecessary delays.

We appreciate your support and cooperation in helping us keep the community safe. πŸ™

Thank you,

Ludlow Fire Station

πŸš’ Community Notice – Training Activity in Ludlow πŸš’

We’d like to let our local community know that the boat crew from Shrewsbury Fire Station will be in and around Ludlow today, supporting Ludlow Fire Station with planned training and inspections.

This will involve activity along the River Teme and nearby areas, including checks of weirs and local river access points.

πŸ” Please don’t be alarmed β€” this is a pre-planned exercise to ensure our crews remain well-trained, prepared, and familiar with local water environments, helping us respond effectively if ever needed.

As always, thank you for your continued support and understanding. πŸ’™πŸš’

Our sincere condolences to Pete’s family and our colleagues at Bridgnorth Fire Station β™₯️

Rest Easy Pete πŸ•ŠοΈ

Our thought and deepest condolences go out to the family and Friends of retired Station Officer Pete Langford.

Pete β€˜Langy’ Langford served for 40+years,
Devoting his working life to the station, and the public of the town and Shropshire. Rising to the rank of Station Officer

Pete is one in a million person who will be greatly missed by all who know him, and served with him here.

He will be fondly remembered for chasing us around the station at 03:00 course instructions in hand or by his unique dance on the parade line at the start of drill nights - normally in a puddle of standing water from the appliance!!

Pete, your duty is done. Rest easy Boss.

πŸ”₯πŸ“Ÿ January at Ludlow Fire Station πŸ“Ÿ πŸ”₯

January has been a busy month for the crews at Ludlow Fire Station, responding to a wide range of incidents to help keep our community safe.

Throughout the month, our teams have attended incidents including:

πŸ”₯ Building fires
πŸš— Road traffic collisions – including persons trapped and make-safe incidents
πŸš™ Vehicle fires
🚨 Automatic Fire Alarms (AFA)
πŸ‘ƒ Reports of smells of burning or smoke
☣️ Hazardous materials incident
πŸ› οΈ Special service calls
πŸšͺ Assisting partner agencies, including police with gain-entry requests

In addition to emergency response, our crews also supported the wider community during the snowfall earlier in the month, assisting Severn Trent Water with the delivery of bottled water to residents in the Clee Hill area.

Every call is different, but our priority remains the same – protecting life, property, and the community we serve.

Thank you to the public for your continued support, and a huge credit to our on-call and wholetime firefighters who are always ready to respond, day or night.

πŸš’ Community Update – Water Distribution Completed Yesterday Evening πŸš’

We are pleased to confirm that water distribution to the Clee Hill area has now been completed.

Crews worked tirelessly over a 7-hour period, battling challenging weather conditions following Storm Goretti, to support residents affected by the loss of water supply.

Working on behalf of Severn Trent Water, our teams successfully delivered bottled water to 128 properties across the area.

We would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the operation, and to recognise the dedication of all crews involved who worked in difficult conditions to support the local community.

πŸ‘ Well Done Team πŸ‘
