Another busy week representing our lovely community.

It was great to attend this month’s LENDF Lowton East Neighbourhood Development Forum meeting on Monday, and really interesting to hear from the RSPCA about their proposals to develop a regional centre off Byrom Lane.

We also held our surgery at Compassion in Action on Saturday morning and picked up casework which is being taken forward.

It is our next surgery tomorrow evening from 6.30-8pm at Lowton Community Centre on Church Lane, next to the Co-op, please do come along if you have anything to raise.

It’s our first surgery of the month tomorrow. Join us at Compassion in Action on Oaklands Road from 10.30am-12.00pm.

A lovely way to spend the morning with LHSRG clearing up Mount Tabor.

The site has village green status and is a lovely green space in the heart of Lanehead, on the site of the old workhouse.

Great work as ever by a committed group of volunteers.

🚜 Community Spirit in Action! β˜€οΈ What a fantastic effort today! A powerhouse team of residents, alongside a very welcome tractor and driver, met up today to tackle Mount Tabor & Jubilee Woods for our big spring/ summer tidy-up. Everything is now looking fantastic, and we couldn't have done it without you. We also want to give a massive thank you to other lovely locals who have lent their support by doing some mowing over the last few days. Here are a couple of photos of the team hard at work. Thank you all for keeping our community looking its best! πŸ₯‚βœ¨

Today was the first meeting of the full council since the election. Jenny and Mike were proud to take their places for another year.

Big congratulations to Councillor Nazia Rehman who was formally elected as the new Leader of the Council. After 50 years it is fantastic to finally have a female leader of the council!

Also congratulations to Councillor Anne Collins who took her place as the Ceremonial Mayor for the first time.

Jenny was also delighted to be confirmed as the new Chair of the Children & Young People’s scrutiny committee.

There was a chance to pay tribute to the service of the councillors who were sadly not re-elected, and Jenny was honoured to speak in support of Garry and to celebrate his contribution to the council during his term of office.

It’s going to be a rollercoaster of a year in the chamber, but we are ready for it, and will continue to represent Lowton positively in everything that we do 🌹
