Business Opportunity - Please Share !

We are very excited to have reached a point in the project where we want to engage with potential business partners to operate the Catering Facilities within the re-generated Town Hall.

With a daily opening Cafe and Events Space that has the potential to build a vibrant business in partnership with the Town Hall team this presents an amazing opportunity to a hospitality professional looking to expand their existing business or embark on something new.

If you think you and your business are top notch, and you want to work on an exciting project with some really great people in the Town Hall team, click the link below for more details & information on how to let us know you would like to work with us:

⭐Wall of Fame Wednesdays!⭐

Each week we’re introducing the people you voted for to be displayed on the Town Hall Wall of Fame.

These are people you think should be more widely known and celebrated.

The Wall of Fame will be available to view in the Town Hall once it reopens.

In the meantime, here’s the third name we’d like to introduce:

⭐Dorothy Dallimer⭐

Dorothy Dallimer (born 1889) was born in Lowestoft.

Dorothy started as a telephone operative in 1907 and rising to Supervisor of the Lowestoft Telephone Exchange by 1939.

Dorothy Dallimer was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) during World War II. As an Assistant Supervisor, Class II, at the Lowestoft Post Office, she displayed remarkable bravery and dedication by ensuring efficient telephone services despite the air raids of 1941.

Her actions ensured that vital communications remained operational during these times.

She retired in 1945, receiving the Imperial Service Medal for her service to the Post Office.

⭐Thank you to those who have voted and nominated towards this project.

It's the hottest May on record and things are heating up at the Town Hall!

See photos of the works being completed to regenerate Lowestoft's Town Hall on areas such as the New Market Inn and the new extension Events Hall!

All photos are taken by local photographer Julian Claxton / Claxton Creative.

Lowestoft Town Hall Project aims to regenerate Lowestoft's Town Hall into a community accessible hub featuring a café, events hall and courtyard garden, heritage gallery and exhibition space, and working spaces.

⭐Jack Rose⭐

Jack Rose (1926–2000) was born in Lowestoft into a ‘Beach’ family. He worked as a longshoreman, trawlerman, drifterman, lifeboatman, fish worker and school caretaker.

He became interested in Lowestoft’s history when he came back from the Second World War to discover how much had changed. He published 11 books on Lowestoft, and the Old Jack Rose Society is one of his lasting legacies.

We loved supporting this project.

"‘Lowestoft Memories’ a piece of creative writing written by Re>Charge Creative Heritage and Employability participant. Workshop leader Dean Parkin.

Working in partnership with the Town Hall Project and First Light Lowestoft. Suffolk Artlink developed a creative employability programme supporting confidence, wellbeing and access to volunteering opportunities.

‘I wasn’t sure of my writing ability, I felt confidence, genuinely felt happy.’

I’m sitting by the shore semi dis-associated trying to synchronise my pulse with the lazy waves.

The vibrancy of the yellow sand has long since dulled, and now is in lethargic harmony with the earthy sea, white clouds staring down from above, irises detailed and fluffy.

The sea half-heartedly shushes me – some of its comfort lost by the marching clatter of stones going with the flow of the waves.

What am I doing with myself? Can I answer that? The sea provides no incentive to probe further. It just gets on with life.

Everything around me gets on. Distant dog-walkers, seagulls surveying for food, fisher – people placed patiently. All outside this sensory bubble I’m in.

My pulse slows, and my distant state is washed away as the sea clears its stoney throat, hissing slightly. I get up, and make my way home.

The Lowestoft Town Hall Project was funded by Lowestoft Town Council, Historic England, The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Battery of Ideas Place Partnership, a project managed by First Light Festival C.I.C, and is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Suffolk County Council and East Suffolk Council.
