Scandalous in this day & age. Thatcher made the UK’s manufacturers compete globally by withdrawing tariff barriers. We lost. She was PM 1975-1990. Since then Lowestoft, for example, lost 25,000 jobs by closure proper wealth creating industries. We lost the fishing industry all along the east coast for different reasons (many say EEC/EU, I say greedy trawler owners). Now in Brexit the same Tories promised us a great future - guess how? By competing in the global market. Sorry folks we tried that once. They also promised a revived fishing industry but it didn’t and it probably won’t. No-one wants to invest and the quotas are all owned by others after companies sold them off in the 70s & 80s. This country is fu**ed.

Inaugural Meeting of LSAG - ‘Lowestoft Seagull Action Group’ on Wed 11Ocober in the ‘lounge’ of Christ Church, Whapload Rd, Lowestoft at 7-9pm.

Open to all interested parties for a constructive discussion about what could or should be done about the increasing numbers of kittiwakes nesting in the town. 900 nests in 2023. Displacement measures to be installed at Stella Maris this winter which holds 200 of them. They will probably just spread out!

Light refreshments; retiring collection to fund them and the hire of the room.
