This is the page for the Long Buckby Retained Fire Station, based in Northamptonshire. The Retained duty system means that the Crew Managers and FireFighters at Long Buckby are called in on alerters, responding locally from their place of work or their homes. The Wholetime Stations & System differs as they constantly have members of staff on Station, with set working shift patterns design

ed to cover 24/7. Our Station currently has 1 Fire Appliance & 1 IIV (Initial Intervention Vehicle). The IIV is designed for rapid intervention across a wide variety of incidents, in hope to respond quicker than a traditional Fire Appliance. Our Fire Appliance requires a minimum of 4 staff whereas the IIV can respond to certain incidents with 2. We drill every Thursday 19:00-22:00 so please feel free to pop in during those hours if you have any questions or queries. We ARE currently recruiting for RDS Firefighters at Long Buckby, please see the link below for more information. https://www.northantsfire.gov.uk/on-call-firefighters-3/

As a member of our on‑call crew you could be from any walk of life — teachers, mechanics, gardeners, parents, business owners and more. No previous experience is needed; we’ll provide full training. What matters most is enthusiasm, a good level of fitness, and the ability to reach your local fire station within 8 minutes when your pager sounds.

🚒 Attending road collisions
🏊‍♂️ Water rescues

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service is asking people to follow advice and have fun safely during the Halloween and Bonfire Night period.

We would always recommend only attending organised firework and bonfire displays but urge members of the public that are planning on holding their own display to do so safely to avoid causing fires and injuries.

Darren Carson, Prevention Team Leader at Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “While the number of fires we attend during this period is reducing year by year, we still want to urge people to follow safety advice to keep themselves, their families and their homes safe.

“It is a fun time of year and we want people to enjoy fireworks and bonfires, but we really encourage members of the public to only go to an official display and avoid having them in back gardens.

“If you do have your own display or bonfire and it gets out of control, or you see any unattended fires, please always call 999 and ask for the Fire Service.”
