💜 Congratulations to St Columb’s Hall 💜

Everyone at Derry Well Women would like to send our warmest congratulations to St Columb’s Hall Trust on the wonderful news that St Columb’s Hall is now back in permanent community ownership. 🔑

This historic building has always held a special place in the heart of Derry. Built by the people of the city in 1888, it is wonderful to know that its future has now been secured for generations to come.

St Columb’s Hall has also played an important part in Derry Well Women’s own journey, providing us with a welcoming home from which we were able to deliver many of our programmes and activities while we prepared for the move to our new premises.

We know first-hand just how much this beautiful building means to the people who use it, and we are delighted to see such significant investment being made in protecting and restoring it.

A huge congratulations to Conal McFeely, the St Columb’s Hall Trust, Annemarie Gallagher and everyone who has worked so hard to make this possible. What a fantastic achievement for the Hall and for the city. 👏💜

St Columb’s Hall Back in Community Ownership 🔑

In 1888, the people of this city built St Columb's Hall penny by penny, collecting donations until they raised the £8,000 required to complete the build. This summer, St Columb’s Hall Trust completed the purchase of the freehold, and the Hall is now in permanent community ownership.

Thanks to National Lottery players and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, alongside the Clothworkers' Foundation, this Grade A listed building will never again be at risk of being lost to the city.

Conal McFeely, Chairperson of St Columb's Hall Trust, said: "This building always belonged to the people of Derry, who built it with their own money in 1888. What we've been able to do is to keep the original promise of “the People’s Hall” that was made to the generations who built it and to the generations still to come.”

This is only the beginning. Over the coming years we'll carry out a phased renovation to bring every corner of this 45,000 sq ft building back to life: a home for creativity, community, live events and civic life in the heart of Derry.

To everyone who has walked through these doors since 2021, performed on our stage, volunteered, or simply believed this day would come, this Hall is yours. Thank you!

❤️ A huge thank you to Team Turley! ❤️

We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as Turley Legal’s Charity Partner for 2026/27, and their support already means so much to us.

Tomorrow, eight members of Team Turley will take on the Waterside Half Marathon to raise funds for Derry Well Women. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

They’ve put in months of training, so we’d love you to get behind them! If you can, please show your support with a donation — every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. 💜

Good luck tomorrow Team Turley — we’ll be cheering you all the way! 👏💜

We are delighted to announce Derry Well Women as Turley Legal’s Charity Partner for 2026/27, beginning a year of fundraising and support for an organisation making a real difference to women and families across the North West.

‍At Turley Legal, we work with people at important moments in their lives – often when they need clarity, support and help to navigate the next step. While the work of Derry Well Women is very different from the work we do at Turley Legal, there is a strong connection in supporting people when they need it most.

‍Derry Well Women provides a wide range of services for women across the North West, including counselling, health clinics, cancer support services and support groups, including mother and baby programmes. Its services provide a safe and welcoming space where women can access the support they need.

‍For some members of our team, the partnership has a particularly personal significance, having experienced first-hand the positive impact of the services Derry Well Women provides.

Our first fundraising challenge will be the Waterside Half Marathon on Sunday 6 September, with eight members of Team Turley taking on the 13.1-mile course.

For some of the team, running is familiar territory. For others, signing up meant starting from scratch and taking on a completely new challenge. They have been training for months and with race day now approaching, the countdown is well and truly on.

Gillian Simpson, Operations Manager at Turley Legal, said:

“We’re really looking forward to supporting Derry Well Woman over the next 12 months, raising both funds and awareness for the important work they carry out in our local community. It’s a charity that means a lot to members of our team and we’re excited to get our fundraising underway with the Waterside Half Marathon.”

Rhonda Murphy, General Manager at Derry Well Women, said:

“We are delighted to have Turley Legal supporting Derry Well Women as their Charity Partner for 2026/27. Partnerships like this are incredibly important to us, not only in raising vital funds but in helping to raise awareness of the support available to women across our community. We’re looking forward to working with the Turley Legal team over the coming year and wish their runners every success in the Waterside Half Marathon.”

If you would like to support Team Turley and help us raise funds for Derry Well Women, you can donate through our fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/turleylegalderrywellwomen?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=CL
