Prime Minister Andy Burnham has confirmed to the Evening Standard that he's already backed a new property tax that could land London with an extra £7.5 billion bill, and a family homes tax, or "mansion tax," on homes worth £2 million or more, mostly in London.

He's also confirmed Westminster's central funding has been slashed by his Government.

Cllr Caroline Sargent joined the Metropolitan Police at Notting Hill Carnival to see the safety operation in action, four live facial recognition systems, a knife gate to detect metal objects, and a bottle liquid inspector to check for corrosive substances.

She said: "I want to thank the 7,000 police officers, over 3,000 stewards, and our amazing city teams that helped ensure the safety and fun spirit of the Notting Hill Carnival for all."

Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Wandsworth have written to Prime Minister Andy Burnham demanding he review the Fairer Funding Review, set to cost the three councils £292 million combined over four years.

Cllr Paul Swaddle OBE: "Andy Burnham needs to explain why Londoners... are being asked to subsidise a political fix elsewhere."

Join St John Ambulance, London Fire Brigade and the City of Westminster for a Community Resilience Day at Paddington Fire Station this Saturday, 5 September, from 11am–4pm.

There’ll be free first aid and trauma bleed training, emergency preparedness advice, fire brigade demonstrations and refreshments.

A great opportunity to learn practical skills that could one day help save a life. ❤️
