⛪️Joins us for a special evening marking the closing of the exhibition "Heritage Churches of Chiloé, Chile: The 3D Digital Record to Enhance Conservation", which showcases the visual work underpinning the research project available at www.churchesofchiloe.com.

📅 When: Tuesday 16 June
⏰ Time: 6-8pm
📍Where: Embassy of Chile in the UK (39-41 Old Queen Street SW1H 9JA)

The event will feature two presentations focused on the cultural and architectural heritage of the Chiloé Archipelago.

🔹The first presentation will launch the book Paisaje Cultural de Chiloé (Cultural Landscape of Chiloé), presented by co-editor Dr Macarena Cortés, Director of the Centre for Cultural Heritage at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (CENPUC). Edited by Eugenio Garcés, Macarena Cortés and Ximena Arizaga, the book brings together a carefully curated collection of chapters exploring the legacy, identity and future of Chiloé's cultural heritage.

🔹The second presentation, 3D Documentation of the Heritage Churches of Chiloé: The Digital Record as a Form of Conservation, will be delivered by Dr Bernadette Devilat, Principal Investigator of the research project behind the exhibition and Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham. This chapter, authored by B. Devilat, F. Lanuza, S. Bernales and U. Bonomo, examines how digital documentation can support the conservation of heritage architecture.

A warm thank you to all our guests who attended the event held at the Embassy of Chile in London yesterday for a fantastic evening honouring Chilean entrepreneurs and innovators.

Representing FOREST, CEO Agustín Guilisasti and CMO Michael Stewart spoke about the company's growth, explaining how it has become the second-largest operator in the sector in the UK capital behind Lime, a company partnered with Uber. Forest currently employs more than 70 people, has over 1.5 million registered users, and facilitates more than one million e-bike rides each month through its fleet of more than 20,000 vehicles.

Representing MAREIDA , co-owners Benjamín Figari and Prenay Agarwal explained how they identified an opportunity to showcase the flavours and ingredients of Chile and the Andes, reimagining them for the British palate and elevating them into a high-end dining experience. Chile—its landscapes, colours, and ingredients—inspires and is reflected in every aspect of the restaurant, from its brand design and typography to its wine list, the materials used in its interior design, and the artwork that decorates its spaces.

Thanks again to all attendees and particularly to our partners: Anglo Chilean Society, ProChile UK, UCL Chilean Society, for their support in organising and promoting this conversation.

We hope to see you at upcoming Embassy events as we continue celebrating our community in the UK!

On 22 May, a solemn ceremony was held at Westminster Abbey to mark a new anniversary of Chile’s Naval Glories Day.

The was led by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Chile in the United Kingdom, Mr Francisco Bartolucci, and Captain Sven Barckhahn, Chilean Defence Attaché to the United Kingdom and Head of the Chilean Naval Mission in London.

During the religious service, floral tributes were laid at the tomb of Vice Admiral Lord Thomas Alexander Cochrane, honouring the distinguished naval officer who arrived in Chile in 1818 and played a key role in consolidating the country’s independence through his contribution to the development of the Chilean Navy.

On this occasion, Captain Sven Barckhahn was also awarded the “Grand Star of Military Merit” decoration in recognition of his 30 years of service to the institution.
The commemoration reaffirmed the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between Chile and the United Kingdom, as well as the enduring shared naval legacy between the two nations.

⛪️ EXHIBITION ALERT ⛪️

💫 Join us for the opening of the exhibition: "Heritage churches of Chiloé, Chile: the 3D digital record to enhance conservation", showcasing the visual work underpinning the research project: www.churchesofchiloe.com.

🌎 The project documented 14 churches in Chiloé located across the remote Chiloé Archipelago, using a methodology based on 3D laser scanning. These are important wooden structures currently at risk, some of which are listed among Chile’s seven UNESCO World Heritage sites. Accurate three-dimensional documentation of these structures is relevant and provides a virtual platform for disseminating vernacular wooden building techniques and expert technical assessment to ensure their physical conservation.

⛪️ We warmly invite you to a display of 3D laser scanning architectural representations, images, videos and books of the heritage churches of Vilupulli, Aldachildo, Achao, Quinchao, Quehui, Matao, Meulín, Curaco Lin Lin, Lin Lin Los Pinos, Quicaví, Calen, Quetalco, Llau-Llao, and Compu and explore how their 3D visualisation allows us to know more about their construction, history and heritage value. This event will feature a talk by the exhibition's author and a vin d'honneur.

Exhibition and images by Dr Bernadette Devilat from the University of Nottingham.

This morning we marked the 99th anniversary of Carabineros de Chile with our London Police Attaché, Coronel Patricio Aguayo.

We honoured fallen officers and recognised the vital role police play across Chile, particularly in its most remote communities.
