Co-operative Party Sharing power & wealth šŸ
Promoted by the Co-operative Party, Unit 13 83 Crampton St London SE17 3BQ Tackling the housing crisis through co-operative housing.

We believe that things work best when ordinary people have a voice, and when services are accountable to the people who use them. That means railways run as a partnership between passengers and staff. Fans having a say in their sports club. Credit unions as an alternative to rip-off payday lenders. Shops owned by their customers, giving back to the community. As the political party of the co-opera

tive movement, we work in partnership with the Labour Party to achieve these aims. There are 26 joint Labour & Co-operative MPs in Parliament, as well as representatives in Scotland, Wales and local government across the UK. Together, we’re ensuring that co-operative and mutual values are at the heart of politics.

The commitment to double the size of the co-operative and mutual economy means handing power directly to people in their own communities.

Labour and Co-operative MP [Andrew Pakes] asked the Government today how Whitehall will deliver on that ambition.

For decades, the earnings of Britain's high streets have travelled upwards and outwards, into the accounts of people who have never walked down them.

When the people who use a place own it, the value it creates stays where it was made.

Andy Burnham addressed the Commons today.

The BBC is cutting £500 million and one in ten jobs, with staff on Newsnight expecting their programme to go.

A TV licence costs £180 a year and carries no vote in how the BBC is run.

The Charter Review should make licence fee payers members, with a real stake and a say.

The answer has filled six reports: on hope, energy, growth, housing, sport and the places that hold us together. Welcome to Community Britain.

This is what hope looks like when communities own it.

Community Britain is already here, and it works. Our job is to give it the power and the backing it deserves, and that is exactly what we are doing.

Mutuals are how we can revive Britain’s high streets.

Place-based businesses reinvest where their members live, and doubling the size of the co-operative sector would put that model on high streets across the country.
