We’re super proud to announce TRUEBLUE REWORKS - Hackney’s first ever Irish Traveller facilitated community workshop focused on reworking and upcycling old denim! 🧵👖♻️❤️

And this is about SO much more than clothes.

It’s about culture, skills, identity, sustainability and connection - bringing traditional knowledge and lived experience into a shared community space and creating something together. 🫶🏼✨

The story of how it came about makes it even more special…

Jacqueline first came to the CoHub as a participant. 💗 A trusted space, conversation and connection led to her offering up her skills because she wanted to share them with the wider Hackney community.

Through our Place Based Social Action programme at CoCreate Hackney, we helped bring that idea to life - alongside securing funding from Hackney Council. 🙌🏼🔥

And Hackney Council says:

“As well as minimising waste and conserving materials, Repair Cafés also provide social and economic benefits through skills sharing, bringing communities together, and saving residents money.”

We’re one of just 6 successful organisations across the borough awarded funding through Hackney Council’s Repair Café grant! 🎉♻️

But this is TRUEBLUE REWORKS, and we’re the CoHub so of course it’s not a traditional repair café… 👀😂🔥

🚨 NEW PAGE ALERT! 🚨💙✊🏼

This one has been a long time coming - and it came directly from the men we work with.✊🏼

One of the things men told us was that there’s no centralised place in Hackney where they can easily find information about services, support, activities and opportunities specifically for men. It’s a minefield to navigate - especially in crisis 🤯

So, as part of our work around men’s wellbeing, resilience and community support, we’re doing something about it. 💪🏼

Our brand-new Support for Men page is now LIVE on the CoHub website! 🥹🔥

We’re officially launching the wider offer next week and we want to build this into a genuinely useful, centralised resource for men in Hackney - bringing together the services and projects that are already out there, making them easier to find and easier to access. ✊🏼

And this is where YOU come in, lads 👇🏼

We’re now starting to build up the services and organisations we feature, so if you know of a service, project, group, activity or organisation that men in Hackney should know about - tell us! 🙌🏼

Last week, our incredible team distributed 89 FREE SCHOOL UNIFORM BUNDLES across just TWO DAYS! 🙌🏼🔥

Please DO NOT attend The CoHub this Thursday or Friday for school uniform collections or other Hub services.

🚲🍋‍🟩 TODAY’S LIME LAND UPDATE:

Well… that went fu***ng brilliantly. 😂

The plan was 55km.

The reality was 5 laps of Vicky Park, one rogue decision, one car sending me into the kerb and me becoming one giant graze from head to toe. 🙄😂

A&E ✔️
Head scan ✔️
Chest X-ray ✔️
Still alive ✔️
Dignity ❌

Apparently the Lime landed directly on my chest, just to really round off the experience. 🍋‍🟩💀

BUT… I’m all clear, just need a few recovery days - and apparently I’m allowed back on the bike next week. 😂

Three weeks tomorrow until London to Brighton. 🚲🔥

So we regroup. We recover. Then we fu***ng RIDE.🚲🍋‍🟩🤘🏼

And honestly… after today, I feel like my injuries have earned you making a donation. 😂😭

🥫👑 FRIYAY FOOD PANTRY CREW APPRECIATION POST! 👑🥫

Big Boss Fran’s away… but the team still PLAY! 😂✊🏼

Today we’re celebrating the absolute bloody legends who make Pantry Fridays happen! ❤️

👑 Maggie - one of our hub queens! Back after being poorly and given the royal welcome 😂 Late 70s, sits on our Board, joins activities AND runs our legendary Signing-In Stations. Like a BOSS 🔥👑❤️

💛 Christiana - with us since we opened! Pantry volunteer, event helper, newly Level 2 Food Hygiene qualified AND regular digital learner. Always wiggling & giggling! 😂💻

🇸🇩 Elias - with KB 6+ years, since arriving from Sudan. Now a proud dad of two, safely housed, settled and volunteering at the Hub practically every day. Pantry, cleaning, Men’s Group… whatever needs doing, Elias is there. ❤️ 10/10 human.

🧡 Leane - running The Closet & Vinted while Zeys is on maternity leave AND jumping onto Pantry Fridays. Our young one with the big energy & old soul! 👏🏼👑

📋 Tracey - our Volunteer Office & Logistics Queen! Foodbank vouchers, CAB appointments, logistics… she knows where EVERYTHING is and ALWAYS time for residents. 🫶🏼👑

🍲 Sara H - a newer Pantry recruit, newly Level 2 Food Hygiene qualified, brilliant cook and bringing ALL the Auntie Energy every Friday! Maggie’s Deputy on Pantry Days 😂❤️

This week we’ve had SO many residents telling us how welcome they feel, how much they love the Hub and how quickly we’ve helped them. 🥹❤️

That’s the magic. ✨

But none of it happens without our Volunteer Shapers.

They give their time, their skills, their energy and their BIG hearts. ❤️
