This is the official page of The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (PWRR). Known as the 'Tigers', the Regiment has been in every theatre of operations since the Second World War. The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment is the senior English Regiment and has the distinction of holding the oldest battle honour in the British Army 'Tangier 1662 - 80'. Most recently the Battalions of the Regi

ment were deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan where many officers and soldiers distinguished themselves including the award of the VC to Pte Johnson Beharry. The Tigers are made up of 4 Battalions:

1 PWRR - A Light Role Infantry Battalion, currently based in Woolwich.

2 RANGER - 2 PWRR are now part of the new RANGER Regiment currently based in Aldershot, Hampshire

3 PWRR - A Reserve Battalion who are trained to deploy and support the Regular Army anywhere around the world based in Kent and Sussex. http://www.3PWRR.com

4 PWRR - A Reserve Battalion who are trained to deploy and support the Regular Army anywhere around the world based in Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex and Middlesex. Uniquely, the regiment maintains a link with the Royal House of Denmark where Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is the Colonel in Chief. The Regiment also maintains an internationally renowned parachute display team that can be found jumping into many military shows around the country and overseas.

As most of you know Col (Retd) John Powell retired as the Regimental Secretary at the end of 2025. The process to recruit a replacement was stalled by the Civil Service recruiting ban, but I am pleased to announce the interviews have taken place, a myriad of forms have been completed and a start date has been agreed.

With effect from 1 Sep 26, Brig (Retd) Matt Maer DSO MBE will take up the post.
