The Mayor of Enfield has enjoyed a wonderful weekend representing the borough in Gladbeck, Germany, celebrating the longstanding friendship between Enfield and its twin town.
At Gladbeck Town Hall, the Mayor joined representatives from Gladbeck’s other twin towns for a special twinning ceremony, with speeches, an exchange of gifts and a celebration of the international friendships that have developed over many decades.
The weekend continued with the much-loved Appeltatenfest, including the traditional parade, apple competitions and crowning ceremony. The Mayor was delighted to meet representatives from Gladbeck’s twin towns and communities from across Europe, all joining together in the celebrations.
A fascinating visit to Gladbeck Fire Station gave the Mayor an insight into the city’s emergency services, including an innovative approach combining fire and medical emergency response, and the specialist vehicles and equipment used to provide these vital services.
The Mayor said:
“It has been a real pleasure to return to Gladbeck, this time as Mayor of Enfield, and to experience once again the warmth of the welcome extended to Enfield.
“Town twinning is about far more than names on a plaque. It is about people, friendships and communities coming together. From the formal twinning ceremony to the parade, Appeltatenfest, our visits and meeting emergency service colleagues, the whole weekend demonstrated just how strong these connections remain.
“My thanks to Mayor Bettina Weist, the people of Gladbeck and everyone involved for their tremendous hospitality. We look forward to welcoming our friends from Gladbeck to Enfield in October.”

A splendid, fun filled and action packed day at Lee Valley!
Council officers and staff organised a fantastic Summer Olympics for adults with learning disabilities, with plenty of games, competitions and, most importantly, huge amounts of laughter.
There was a hilarious staff egg and spoon race, a three legged race and lots more!
All the winners stood proudly on the podium to receive their medals, and everyone who took part received a medal too. 🏅
It was lovely to see just how much enjoyment, encouragement and good natured competition there was throughout the day.
A huge thank you to all the officers and staff who worked so hard to organise such a special and inclusive event. 🥇👏

A great afternoon at the Dugdale Arts Centre for the Community Youth Mental Health Services Open Day.
So important to see the range of support available to our young people across Enfield, bringing together school nurses, youth workers, mental health services, gambling awareness and other vital support.
Lovely to meet the teams, hear more about their work and see the emphasis on early help, prevention and making sure young people know where to turn when they need support.

The Mayor of Enfield was delighted to cut the ribbon and officially open the new Cinch Storage Enfield branch in Brimsdown.

It was great to meet Dylan and the team and explore the impressive range of storage units available.

Storage can be invaluable as people move through the different chapters of their lives moving home, downsizing, growing a business or simply needing that little bit of extra space.

Always a pleasure to welcome a new enterprise to Enfield and to wish the team every success for the future.
