Abuse should never be a barrier to a woman’s safety, wellbeing or success at work.

94% of employed survivors say their experience of domestic abuse has affected their employment.

We’re sharing the words of survivor Katie, who experienced domestic abuse while working full-time. When she needed time away for police interviews or court dates, those days were taken from her holiday allowance.

Survivors shouldn’t have to choose between dealing with abuse and keeping their job.

It was an honour to join the Mayor of London, the Deputy Mayor of Policing and Crime and the London Victim's Commissioner for the launch of the London Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy this morning.

Alongside the Chair of the Solace Shadow Board, a panel of domestic abuse and sexual violence survivors, Alexia Cheneau, we discussed the range of ways in which London can be safer for women and girls. We look forward to continuing our work with these decision makers.

We need to stop normalising behaviours that put women down and disguise them as "just a joke" or "a sign of love."

Weaponised incompetence isn't a quirk.

Jealousy isn't a love language.

Violent jokes aren't funny.

These are tactics used to diminish, control, and silence.

In the context of domestic abuse, minimisation is when a person downplays their harmful behaviour to make it seem less serious.

They might say something like ‘it wasn’t that bad’ or ‘you’re over reacting’ instead of taking responsibility for their actions.
