The Czechoslovak New Wave season at The Garden Cinema is drawing to a close, but there's still time to catch one of its most powerful titles: Karel Kachyňa's The Ear.
A tense and haunting portrait of a marriage under pressure, the film doubles as a devastating critique of life under totalitarian rule. Banned by the authorities shortly after it was completed, The Ear remained unseen for two decades until the fall of Communism.

☀️ The Sun came out for our Guided Tour with artist Matyáš Chochola last Friday!

Matyáš talked about his sculptures MACE II, METEOR and BRUTALIST
(all part of his larger series 'Virtues and Vices of Our Time'), which are currently on display at Regent's Park as part of Frieze Sculpture 2026.

A huge thank you to Matyáš and Petr Hájek of The Chemistry Gallery for a fascinating conversation, followed by a very enjoyable walk through the sculpture trail in Regent’s Park. We were delighted to welcome the tour as part of our 30th programme!

And if you haven’t seen it yet, make sure to visit Frieze Sculpture before 1 November and experience Matyáš’s work in the park - it’s completely free. ✨
