Must Read Monday

The Dragon and the Dove is the epic, long-awaited finale to Catherine Doyle’s New York Times bestselling City of Fantome trilogy, and for fans who have followed Seraphine and Ransom from enemies to lovers across two spellbinding books, this is the conclusion they have been waiting for.

The age of Kings has ended. The age of Saints has risen. Now a self-proclaimed People’s Saint is rallying the realm to his darkest of causes, and Sera’s blazing gift, the power to make saints of others, comes at a terrible personal cost each time she uses it.

Ransom, newly sainted and bound to nightmarish shadows, is on the brink of despair. To save the kingdom, they may have to sacrifice everything, including each other.

Doyle writes with the pace of a thriller and the warmth of someone who genuinely loves her characters, the banter crackles, the stakes are sky-high, and the Irish Examiner called it “a tense, twisting story peppered with Doyle’s signature banter.”

A hugely satisfying finale to one of YA romantasy’s most beloved recent trilogies, from an internationally bestselling Irish author whose books have been published in over twenty-five languages.

Perfect for fans of: Caraval, Kristen Ciccarelli, Holly Black, Sarah J. Maas, YA romantasy, enemies-to-lovers.

📖 The complete City of Fantome trilogy is in stock — find it in our YA and fantasy section.

Must Read Monday - Broken Ghost.

Broken Ghost is a haunting, beautifully written departure from J.D. Oswald, better known as James Oswald, Sunday Times bestselling author of the Inspector McLean crime series, and proof that he can do something entirely different with equal mastery.

Spring, 1985: twelve-year-old Phoebe MacDonald has just lost both parents in a house fire and must leave her beloved Scotland to live with her eccentric uncle and aunt deep in the Welsh woodland.

She is lonely, grieving, and adrift, until she meets Gwyneth, a barefoot girl who wanders the forest alone and seems to exist only within its trees.

Nobody else believes Gwyneth is real. Phoebe knows otherwise. And with Gwyneth’s guidance, she begins to understand that the woods are a place where the line between the living and the dead grows very thin indeed.

Told across two timelines, 1985 and 2023, when an adult Phoebe returns to Wales to bury her aunt, this is a novel about grief, friendship, the magic that sustains us in childhood, and the secrets that outlast us.

Described by the Scottish Daily Mail as “beautifully written, imbued with empathy, spirits and magic” and by Meg Clothier as “mesmerising.” The perfect read for the darker evenings drawing in.

Perfect for fans of: Laura Purcell, The Ghosts of Merry Hall, Susanna Clarke, coming-of-age fiction, folklore and forest magic.

đź“– In stock in our fiction section, a quiet, absorbing gem.

We are starting something very exciting here at the library.

Do you know of anyone, a neighbour, a friend or a fellow parent at the school gates who could potentially need some assistance in improving their English skills?

Starting later this year, we will be having sessions with one of our fantastic volunteers who will be leading free flowing lessons, where we will be teaching English for everyday situations. From going to the bank, the shops, chatting with teachers and so much more.

Currently we are holding reading assist sessions on Friday’s in the meantime, to help parents read with their kids.
