"Thank you to the United Kingdom for a new defence contribution of £100 million – the “winter package” – to PURL.

This support will be channeled, in particular, toward the procurement of additional Patriot interceptors, which is an absolute priority amid Russia’s unrelenting attacks on critical infrastructure and life itself. The strikes since last night and into today alone have claimed 2 lives and left 23 people wounded in Kyiv.

We also value our active cooperation across other areas: localising Storm Shadow production in Ukraine, joint work on drones and AI, and much more.

I thank Prime Minister Andy Burnham Andy Burnham, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting, Parliament, and all the people of Britain for your unwavering support – in many ways, leading the way among our partners.

Our recent bilateral negotiations with the Prime Minister and Defence Secretary in Kyiv centred on air defence, and I am grateful for this prompt decision today, ahead of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting co-chaired by the UK".

Ця підтримка буде спрямована, зокрема, на закупівлю додаткових ракет-перехоплювачів для Patriot, і це перший пріоритет в умовах безперервних російських атак на критичну інфраструктуру і життя. Лише внаслідок ударів від минулої ночі й протягом сьогоднішнього дня в Києві загинули двоє людей, ще 23 були поранені. Ми також цінуємо нашу активну співпрацю в інших напрямах: локалізацію виробництва Storm Shadow в Україні, спільну роботу над дронами та ШІ й багато іншого.

Дякую Прем’єр-міністру Енді Бернему, міністру оборони Весу Стрітінгу, парламенту та всьому Британському народові за незмінну підтримку, яка багато в чому є прикладом для наших партнерів. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine:

Today, a Russian attack drone hit the building of the We Are Ukraine TV channel in broad daylight – while journalists were live on air. At least five people have been injured. The building was partially destroyed.

Russia has taken its attacks on media to a new level, using “Shaheds” to target journalists while they were working.

❗️The world must not ignore this. Russian terror must be stopped through united international action.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine:

Just hours after the US President’s peace envoys left Kyiv, Russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine's capital and several other regions of Ukraine.

The strikes on Kyiv killed at least two people and injured at least ten others. The capital suffered significant damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

Critical infrastructure was hit in Kyiv region, while in Odesa region, Russia struck an ordinary market. Two people were injured in Kharkiv, where an apartment building was damaged. In Sumy region, a railway locomotive was attacked at a station this morning. Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions also came under attack.

Ukrainian defenders destroyed 175 aerial targets overnight, but not all threats could be stopped. Ballistic missiles remain particularly difficult to intercept. Ukraine continues to raise the urgent need for more interceptors with our American and European partners.

Further meetings are taking place today with countries and companies that can help strengthen Ukraine’s air defence and support our FREYJA anti-ballistic system.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrij Sybiha:

The moment the US President’s peace envoys left, Putin launched another massive, horrific attack against Kyiv, damaging residential areas and killing at least two people.

His ballistic missiles speak louder than his words on diplomacy. Strike after strike on residential buildings brings him no closer to winning this war—it is nothing but senseless terror.

This proves that no decisions by our allies can be put on hold. Every delay is measured in lives.

Every interceptor provided to Ukraine now is a saved life. Missiles in stocks, including those nearing their expiry date, should work to protect Ukrainian skies.

It is also time to follow Germany’s lead and close all “Russian houses” in Europe. Russian influence networks cannot be allowed to continue operating while Russia refuses to end its war of aggression.

❗️We urge our allies to act and increase pressure on the aggressor. Pressure on Moscow advances diplomacy—it does not obstruct it. Stronger pressure brings peace closer.

💬 “Щойно спецпредставники Президента США поїхали, Путін здійснив чергову масовану, жахливу атаку на Київ, пошкодивши житлові райони та вбивши щонайменше двох людей.

Його балістичні ракети говорять голосніше за його слова щодо дипломатії. Удар за ударом по житлових будинках не наближає його до перемоги в цій війні – це просто безглуздий терор.

І він доводить, що жодне рішення наших союзників не можна відкладати. Кожна затримка вимірюється життями”, – наголосив міністр.

Андрій Сибіга підкреслив, що кожна ракета-перехоплювач, надана Україні зараз, – це врятоване життя. Ракети, що знаходяться на складах, включаючи ті, термін придатності яких наближається, повинні працювати просто зараз для захисту українського неба.

💬 “Також настав час наслідувати приклад Німеччини та закрити всі «російські доми» в Європі. Не можна дозволити російським мережам впливу продовжувати роботу, поки Росія відмовляється припинити свою агресивну війну”, – зауважив глава МЗС.

Міністр також закликав наших союзників діяти та посилити тиск на агресора, адже тиск на Москву сприяє дипломатії, а не перешкоджає їй. Сильніший тиск наближає мир.

Сьогодні були раді вітати в Посольстві британського художника Рассела Хейнса Russell Haines - автора масштабної картини "Lines of Resistance" ("Лінії опору"), присвяченої українцям, їхній мужності та солідарності британського суспільства з Україною.

У своїй роботі Р.Хейнс розповідає історії українців, які знайшли прихисток у Великій Британії, волонтерів та всіх тих, хто підтримує Україну і допомагає наближати нашу перемогу. Його 50-метрове полотно стало своєрідним мистецьким свідченням українсько-британської солідарності.

Під час зустрічі передали подяку від Посла України Валерія Залужного за внесок Р.Хейнса у розвиток українсько-британських відносин та зміцнення дружби між нашими народами.

Щиро вдячні Расселу за підтримку українців та за те, що через мистецтво він допомагає розповідати світові про Україну, її силу та незламність. 🇺🇦🇬🇧

Today, we were pleased to welcome British artist Russell Haines to the Embassy - the creator of the large-scale Lines of Resistance painting, dedicated to Ukrainians, their courage, and the solidarity of British society with Ukraine.

Through his work, Russell Haines tells the stories of Ukrainians who have found refuge in the United Kingdom, volunteers, and all those who support Ukraine and help bring our victory closer. His 50-metre canvas has become a powerful artistic testament to Ukrainian-British solidarity.

During the meeting, we conveyed Ambassador of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi’s gratitude to Russell for his contribution to the development of Ukrainian-British relations and to strengthening the friendship between our two nations.

We are sincerely grateful to Russell for his support for Ukrainians and for using art to help tell the world about Ukraine, its strength and resilience. 🇺🇦🇬🇧

5 вересня українська громада та британські друзі зібралися разом на яскравій події з нагоди Дня Незалежності України, організованій Ukrainian Social Club Richmond and Hounslow.

Цей фестиваль став не лише святом української культури, а й важливим свідченням солідарності та єдності з Україною в умовах триваючої російської агресії.

Під час заходу було передано звернення Посла України у Великій Британії Валерія Залужного, в якому він висловив щиру вдячність усім, хто непохитно стоїть поруч із нашою державою, закликав міжнародних партнерів і надалі надавати Україні критично необхідну підтримку, а також подякував українській громаді за збереження й популяризацію національної ідентичності за кордоном.

🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧Щиро вдячні представникам місцевої ради Річмонда за їхню послідовну та вагому підтримку українців, які знайшли тимчасовий прихисток у цьому регіоні.

Дякуємо організаторам, творчим колективам і музикантам, волонтерам і кожному, хто долучився до цього заходу та продовжує підтримувати Україну.

On 5 September, the Ukrainian community and British friends came together for a vibrant event marking Ukraine’s Independence Day, organised by the Ukrainian Social Club Richmond and Hounslow.

The festival was not only a celebration of Ukrainian culture, but also an important expression of solidarity and unity with Ukraine in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression.

During the event, a message from the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, was delivered. In it, he expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who continue to stand steadfastly with Ukraine, called on international partners to maintain their vital support for our country, and thanked the Ukrainian community for preserving and promoting Ukraine’s national identity abroad.

We are sincerely grateful to representatives of Richmond Council for their consistent and meaningful support for Ukrainians who have found temporary refuge in the area.

Our thanks go to the organisers, performers and musicians, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to this event and continues to support Ukraine.

We greatly value the unity of the Ukrainian community and the support of our British friends. Together, we continue to work to support Ukraine, strengthen international solidarity, bring our victory closer, and help achieve a lasting and just peace.
