People from all backgrounds can foster. Tower Hamlets Council offers foster carers extensive support, including fantastic training opportunities, generous financial support, and a Council Tax exemption for approved foster carers.

🚫 MYTH: You need to own your home to foster.
✅ FACT: Many foster carers rent their homes. What's important is having a spare bedroom and providing a safe, stable environment for a child.

Myth Busting #2
🚫 MYTH: I'm too old to foster.
✅ FACT: There is no upper age limit for fostering. Your experience, patience and commitment can make a real difference to a child's life.

🚫 MYTH: You need to be married to foster.
✅ FACT: Single people, couples, and people from all backgrounds can foster. What matters most is your ability to provide a loving and supportive home.

🚫 MYTH: I work full-time, so I can't foster.
✅ FACT: Every fostering situation is different. Some carers work while fostering, depending on the needs of the child and the type of fostering role. Talk to us to find out more.

✅ FACT: Foster carers receive financial support, council tax exemption to help meet a child's needs, along with training and ongoing professional support.
