Our RCN Scotland librarian has discovered that the RCN Scotland HQ building in South Oswald Rd in Edinburgh has an extraordinary nursing connection! It appears to be the childhood home to the suffragette nurse Florence McFarlane and her family during the nineteenth century. As a result of militant suffragette campaigns, Florence endured prison sentences and force-feeding. In her later years, Florence moved to England and then the US, where she continued campaigning for women’s rights. We now have a fantastic connection to a remarkable Scottish nurse activist. Our team were delighted to talk to members at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust this week about job evaluation and the band 5 NHS nursing roles review.

We want to make sure you're being paid fairly for the work you do - no matter your band - and our teams are coming to workplaces across London to help you understand the job evaluation process.

If you miss us at your workplace, then you can join one of our webinars.

🎨✨ Come behind the scenes of our exhibition de-install!

As 'Moved to Care' prepares to travel to Edinburgh for its second run, every object goes through a meticulous process to ensure it remains safe and well cared for.

First, we carefully remove items from display 📦

We then carry out thorough condition checks to identify any signs of damage 🔍

Each object is compared against detailed photographs and notes taken before the exhibition opened 📸

Finally, everything is packed safely and securely, ready for its journey to its next venue 🚚
