But creating a new banknote series is about more than imagery. It's a detailed process that helps ensure our banknotes remain secure, resilient and easy to recognise.

💷Today, we’re delighted to reveal the four animals that will feature on the Bank of England’s next series of banknotes:

🌟European hedgehog
🌟Barn owl
🌟Buff-tailed bumblebee
🌟Atlantic puffin

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our wildlife consultation. Nearly half a million people shared their views, making it the largest response we’ve ever received to a banknote imagery consultation.

Together, these four animals showcase the rich variety of wildlife found across the UK and will help create a distinctive new series of banknotes.
