UKRFA - United Kingdom Reserve Forces Association Education and awareness, international representation through CIOR and CIOMR, courses including YROW and IJOLDS, military skills and shooting competitions

At a time when the operational tempo places high demands on Reservists and there are continuing constraints on their training, UKRFA provides a range of events that improve self-confidence, broaden Reservists’ experience and are retention-positive. UKRFA events are challenging and demanding and frequently take place in an international context, helping foster cooperation and understanding of our c

oalition partners for future operations. Our outputs develop members of the Reserve Forces in the conceptual and physical components of fighting power, offering a unique method of enhancing our military capability across a range of Mission Essential Task Lists. More than 800 Reservists participate in our events each year. Nearly half of these are new faces and for nearly a quarter this will be a one time experience. Most attend international competitions as part of a Unit team, however the UKRFA also provides individual Reservists with international education through access to courses and seminars abroad such as the CIOR Young Reserve Officers’ Workshop and the United States Air Force Reserve’s International Junior Leadership Development Seminar. UKRFA also provides access to international seminars run by CIOR and CIOMR several times each year. UK COMPETITIONS

As a result of a review by DCFA of the UKRFA Military Skills Competitions there will be a single Competition in 2017 incorporating many of the best features of the former SNCOs Competition and the Scottish Military Skills Competition.

The new Competition will focus on the contemporary operating environment and the future character of conflict with a strong emphasis on tri-service working and international participation. The new competition is expected to be held later in 2017 and confirmed dates, venue and application procedure for contestants will be published once these have been determined and e-mailed to previous competing units. Stand sponsors will be contacted by e-mail during the design phase of the Competition.

All units both in UK and Overseas who have competed or manned stands in previous years are invited to register their continuing interest by e-mail to: [email protected]
