💔 Gazan children gathered among the rubble of flattened buildings for a rare moment of childhood normalcy to watch The Lion King.

The kids sat together in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood of Gaza City to watch the movie on a projector screen.

Adults joined the young audience for the outdoor screening, which was set against a backdrop of bombed buildings and debris.

The event was organised by the Little Wings Cinema project under the Masharawi Fund for Films and Filmmakers in Gaza.

The project uses mobile cinema screens to show films to children living in the war-torn area. 🥺

Organisers say the initiative provides a recreational space amid the devastation caused by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

According to the fund, the initiative gives young people a chance to safely discover or rediscover the magic of cinema.

The group plans to run daily film screenings in accessible areas until the end of 2026.

And the project was launched as fresh violence claimed the lives of two children in the region on Sunday. ‼️

A seven-year-old child was killed when Israeli artillery hit a classroom sheltering displaced Gazans in Deir al-Balah.

In a separate strike in western Gaza City, a father and his nine-year-old daughter died when a civilian vehicle was hit by Israeli forces.

Health officials at Shifa Hospital confirmed that six other people were wounded in the same attack. 😧
