🎭📚 More than a conventional book launch

Romanian poet and translator Peter Sragher presents The Performance, his new poetry collection, freshly published in the UK by Mycelium Press.

For more than two decades, Peter has explored poetry as a live art form, where voice, rhythm and presence become part of the poem itself. His work has appeared in bilingual and multilingual editions across Europe and beyond, while his practice is deeply rooted in performance poetry, literary translation and intercultural dialogue.

For this special London evening, Peter will be joined by Elena Hadjiafxendi and Andy Willoughby for poetry, conversation, song and collaborative performance.

The event is organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute in London, in partnership with the Cyprus High Commission.

🇨🇾🇷🇴🇬🇧 Three cultural perspectives meet through poetry

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission is pleased to partner with the Romanian Cultural Institute in London for a vibrant evening bringing together Romanian, Cypriot and British voices.

The Performance celebrates the new collection by Romanian poet Peter Sragher, who will be joined by British poet Andy Willoughby and Greek Cypriot actress and singer Elena Hadjiafxendi.

The collaboration grew from Peter and Elena’s meeting at the International Festival of Larnaca and from Peter’s subsequent writing inspired by Cyprus. Their creative journey now continues in London through poetry, translation, song and live performance.

We are delighted to partner with the Romanian Cultural Institute in London for The Performance, an evening of poetry, translation, conversation and live performance.

Celebrating the new poetry collection by Romanian poet and translator Peter Sragher, the event will also feature Greek Cypriot actress and singer Elena Hadjiafxendi and British poet, playwright and spoken-word artist Andy Willoughby.

Together, they will explore what happens when poetry moves from the printed page into voice, music, interpretation and creative collaboration.

🇨🇾📚 How many stories can one island hold?

This October in Birmingham, we invite audiences to discover Cyprus one page, one photograph and one story at a time.

Island Studies: Photobooks from Cyprus, curated by Chris Neophytou and Gamze Sanli, will form part of CENTRAL 2026, bringing together photographic books that look at Cyprus through different eyes and experiences.

There is no single Cyprus contained within these pages.

Instead, we encounter an island of landscapes and people, memory and belonging, personal histories and collective experiences; an island continually photographed, questioned, remembered and reimagined.

That multiplicity is at the heart of Island Studies. The photobook becomes more than a collection of images: it becomes a space in which different perspectives on Cyprus can coexist and enter into conversation.

We are particularly pleased to see this dedicated Cyprus exhibition presented within the wider programme of CENTRAL, alongside publishers, photographers, artists and researchers from the UK and beyond.

The Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission in the UK is delighted to support the Cyprus presence at CENTRAL 2026 and another opportunity for contemporary Cypriot creativity to reach audiences beyond London.

The exhibition is open at Cyprus House every Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 3:00pm, and entry is completely free.

There is no set route and no need to rush. Read one poem or all of them. Stay for ten minutes or stay longer. Rivers is there to be experienced at your own pace.

The journey continues across the Severn and into Wales for the Swansea edition of the Festival.

Directed by Danae Stylianou and produced for the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus, SKAMMATA uses archaeological archives and powerful personal testimonies to explore Cyprus before and after the events of 1974 and the profound consequences of war for the island's archaeology and cultural heritage.

In Swansea, we are especially pleased to collaborate with Dr Ersin Hussein of Swansea University, an ancient historian whose work focuses on Cyprus, its material culture, identity and heritage.

Three days.
Two cities.
From the mythology of Aphrodite to the archaeological trenches of SKAMMATA.

This is what our travelling Festival is about: taking Cypriot stories to communities across the UK and creating new encounters between cinema, education, heritage and audiences. ❤️

THE ISLAND | UK PREMIERE 🎭🇨🇾

Two men. One prison cell. One island.

We are delighted to announce that the UK premiere of THE ISLAND will be presented by the Cultural Section of the Cyprus High Commission in London, in collaboration with the National Federation of Cypriots in the UK!

An original theatrical production by ETHAL (Limassol Theatre Development Company) and Point To Contemporary Theater, THE ISLAND brings to the stage a deeply human story inspired by testimonies and historical narratives from British colonial Cyprus.

Through the encounter of two prisoners from different communities, the production explores memory, identity, communication and coexistence.

The 25th Cyprus Film Days International Festival invites filmmakers from Cyprus and around the world to submit their feature films for its landmark anniversary edition, taking place from 16 to 24 April 2027 in Limassol and Nicosia, Cyprus.

Under the inspiring message Every Story Deserves the Big Screen, the Festival continues its mission of celebrating cinematic creativity, encouraging cultural exchange and bringing distinctive filmmaking voices to audiences in Cyprus.

🎞️ TWO COMPETITION SECTIONS

🌍 Glocal Images – International Competition

Open to fiction feature films from around the world, this section celebrates original cinematic visions, compelling storytelling and contemporary filmmaking that crosses geographical and cultural boundaries.

🇨🇾 Cypriot Films Competition

A dedicated platform celebrating Cypriot filmmakers and productions, recognising the creativity, talent and growing international presence of Cyprus's film industry.

🏆 AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

The Festival offers awards recognising excellence in filmmaking, directing, cinematography and performance, including:

🏆 Best Film – €6,000

🏆 Special Jury Award – €3,000

🏆 Best Cypriot Film – €4,000, plus use of The Studio at CYENS Centre of Excellence
