TONIGHT BBC Two's Gardenerās World spotlights the exceptional Ann Lush šŗ
Ann has supported The Childrenās Society for almost 60 years, running committees, volunteering her time and raising around Ā£300,000.
Ann and her brother were sadly orphaned as children and brought up by her granny. Annās granny was private about letting people into their home. Ann thought to herself as a child that if she ever had a garden of her own, it would be open to all.
More than three decades ago, Ann and her late husband Dennis, opened their garden in Penarth to raise money for The Childrenās Society. And 30 years later, theyāre still doing it!
Ann recalls the kindness she was shown as a child, by other local parents. This kindness inspired her to dedicate herself to helping as many young people as possible.
We are so incredibly grateful to Ann for helping us to make sure children donāt have to face life alone.
