Architects Registration Board

Architects Registration Board Set up by Parliament in 1997, but independent of Government, we are the body that regulates the architects’ profession in the UK.

We do this by setting and maintaining standards for education and practice, and only those people on our Register are allowed by law to call themselves an architect. When consumers use an architect from our Register, they can be confident that they are using a genuine professional who has both met the standards that we set, and who is guided by a professional code of conduct. ARB’s Register of Arc

hitects (http://www.architects-register.org.uk/) is the definitive reference source for members of the public who might be looking for an architect or who might want to check whether someone is registered as an architect.

The Architects Code of Conduct is supported with guidance for how architects can apply the Standards in more specific contexts and in relation to particular topics.

Our new Code guidance resource hub provides links to relevant legislation, statutory guidance and recognised industry resources in one place to help architects understand and apply the Code in practice.

ARB has today announced changes to its approach to Professional Practice Experience (PPE), as part of wider reforms to architectural education.

The changes follow the findings of the independent PPE Commission and feedback from our consultation earlier this year.

These include updates to Standards for learning providers, guidance for employers and trainees, the introduction of a new Trainee Record of Experience, and changes to the Registration Rules for practical experience.
