Architects Registration Board Set up by Parliament in 1997, but independent of Government, we are the body that regulates the architects’ profession in the UK.

We do this by setting and maintaining standards for education and practice, and only those people on our Register are allowed by law to call themselves an architect. When consumers use an architect from our Register, they can be confident that they are using a genuine professional who has both met the standards that we set, and who is guided by a professional code of conduct. ARB’s Register of Architects (http://www.architects-register.org.uk/) is the definitive reference source for members of the public who might be looking for an architect or who might want to check whether someone is registered as an architect.

To meet ARB’s CPD requirements this year, make sure you:
✅ Complete your planned CPD activities, covering both mandatory topics:

• Fire and life safety
• Environmental sustainability

✅ Record your learning and reflect on how you’ll apply it in practice, using either MyARB or RIBA's recording platform.

✅ Confirm your participation and your recording platform during the retention process when it opens.

There’s no minimum number of activities you need to complete, but we recommend around eight for across the year, including at least one for each mandatory topic.

ARB has introduced new routes as part of its Registration Assurance Process (RAP), providing greater flexibility and proportionality in how eligible applicants, including both first-time applicants and rejoiners, demonstrate their competence to practise as an architect in the UK.

The new routes are an important step in modernising registration while maintaining the standards needed to practise.
