Well done to local Year 5 and 6 pupils, who spent two days with our learning team exploring, learning and helping to care for West Ham Park this Autumn 🍂

From litter picking and orienteering to shelter building and gathering leaves, they embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, and created a deeper connection with the nature around them.

🏆 Gold for West Ham Park! 🌿

We’re thrilled to share that West Ham Park has received a Gold Award at this year’s London in Bloom Awards.

This fantastic achievement recognises the dedication of our staff, volunteers and community partners in caring for one of East London’s most loved green spaces. From vibrant floral displays and historic gardens to biodiversity projects, sports facilities and community events, the award celebrates everything that makes West Ham Park such a special place to visit.

Today marks the September Equinox! It's the point where day and night are equal in length, and autumn begins🍂

Thank you to our staff and the local community who have worked incredibly hard to care for West Ham Park through the exceptionally hot summer we've just had, helping wildlife, habitats and visitors continue to thrive.

As we enter a new season and turn a new, orange, leaf, let's all continue to care for our wonderful Park 👏

Wonder Women is an inspiring project run by Tindersticks, encouraging women into nature, learning new skills, and providing a safe, calming and educational space for women from vulnerable groups.

This project in West Ham Park was made possible through the City of London Corporation: City View Enjoying Green Spaces Grant.

Do you have an idea that helps connect people with their local green space? Find out more about how you could secure a grant here: https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/about-us/working-with-community/central-grants-programme/enjoying-green-spaces-and-the-natural-environment

Please note the activities mentioned are guided and taught by professionals with specific tools and techniques. Do not try it at home.

It's International Bat Night!🦇

As night draws in, Bats can be seen flying across West Ham Park as they start to feed - have you seen any this summer?

They're very quick, so you can also use a detector to hear their echolocation. The device in this photo picks up the high-frequency echolocation calls that bats use to navigate and hunt, sounds that are usually beyond the range of human hearing.

Thank you to the Friends of West Ham Park for their amazing Bat Walks over the years 👏
