Yesterday, our High Commissioner, H.E. Thomas Bisika, delivered the opening statement at the Financing Education for a Shared Purpose breakfast at UK Parliament — hosted ahead of the Education World Forum by the Council for Education in the Commonwealth, IPNEd, RESULTS UK, and Save the Children.

H.E. Bisika reaffirmed Malawi's commitment to foundational learning and highlighted Malawi's role as host of FLEX 2026 — the Africa Foundational Learning Exchange — taking place in Lilongwe from 15–17 July 2026. Now in its third edition, FLEX is Africa's leading platform for advancing education policy and practice, building on the foundations of Sierra Leone (2023) and Rwanda (2024).

His message: the tools and evidence exist. What Africa needs now is coherent, sustained implementation — and financing that follows results. We look forward to welcoming partners and fellow African nations to Lilongwe. Together, we can ensure every child has the foundational skills to thrive.

Hon. George T. Chaponda, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Malawi, recently participated in key Commonwealth engagements, including the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting and the Commonwealth Day Service.

These engagements brought together leaders and diplomats from across the Commonwealth to discuss the evolving global landscape and explore opportunities for shared prosperity.

Malawi’s participation reaffirmed its strong commitment to multilateral cooperation, democratic values, and sustainable development, while strengthening partnerships ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Anthu Pamodzi – People Together

Last week in Edinburgh, the enduring friendship between Malawi and Scotland was celebrated through the Anthu Pamodzi photographic exhibition, marking 20 years of the Scotland Malawi Partnership.

The exhibition showcases the strength of Malawi–Scotland collaboration across health, education, clean water, energy and sustainable livelihoods, reflecting partnerships built on mutual respect and shared purpose. The occasion was further honoured by the presence of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Honorary Patron of the Partnership.

Anthu Pamodzi, meaning People Together in Chichewa, tells the story of communities working side by side and highlights the positive impact of people-to-people cooperation between Malawi and Scotland.

The Malawi High Commission celebrates the enduring Malawi–Scotland friendship!

Hon. George Chaponda, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Rt. Hon. John Swinney, First Minister of Scotland, reaffirmed the deep bonds between our two nations—spanning over 160 years of cooperation in education, health, trade, and climate justice.

The Malawi Agricultural and Industrial Investment Corporation (MAIIC) today hosted the Malawi Investment Summit at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel as part of the 2025 Investing in Africa Summit (AFSIC).

The event was opened by H.E. Dr Thomas Bisika, Malawi’s High Commissioner to the UK, who reaffirmed that “Malawi is open to investment.”

Closing the summit, Mr Donbell Mandala, MAIIC Board Chairman, commended participants for their commitment to Malawi’s development and reaffirmed MAIIC’s dedication to unlocking sustainable investments that transform the economy.
