Find out what’s coming up this week in the House of Lords:
❓ Lords members press the government on the impact of tax measures since July 2024, electoral finance law investigations, the impact of data centres on water resources, and compulsory voting.
📃 In bills, the Lords will debate the main purpose and key themes of the Public Office (Accountability) Bill, and conduct detailed line-by-line scrutiny of the Cyber Security and Resilience (Network and Information Systems) Bill and Armed Forces Bill. Members will also 'tidy up' the Social Housing Bill.
🗣️ In debates, members will discuss education for disadvantaged communities, government priorities and parcel delivery services. On Friday, the Lords will debate recent committee reports.
📝 In committees, the Built Environment Committee will hear from Matthew Pennycook MP, Minister of State for Housing and Planning for its inquiry into new towns. Also, the Constitution Committee will hear from Lord O'Donnell, former Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service, for its inquiry into the UK’s constitutional safeguards.
