♻️ This Recycle Week, meet two very unusual pelicans...

You might spot two new additions alongside our flock of Australian Pelicans at Pelican Creek. But unlike our real pelicans, these two are made entirely from plastic litter collected from beaches around Britain.

Created by conservation artist Jacha Potgieter - Oriel Ospie, the sculptures turn beach litter into a striking reminder of the impact plastic pollution can have on wildlife. Plastic can be mistaken for food and swallowed by birds, potentially causing serious harm.

So this , remember the three Rs: Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. ♻️

As Jacha says: “If we all do a little bit, we can actually save the planet.”

Migrating Hobbies have been hanging around!

We’ve had Hobbies on site for over a fortnight, including juveniles, busy hunting over the wetlands and mostly catching dragonflies, with the occasional Sand Martin making the menu too. 👀

They usually only stop by for a short while before moving on, so having them stick around for two weeks is a real treat, and the longest stay we’ve had!
