Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, are two of the most important occasions in the Jewish calendar.

They are a time for family, reflection, forgiveness and thinking about the year ahead – themes that also connect closely with our CLCH values of Compassion, Inclusion, Empowerment and Accountability.

We wish all our Jewish colleagues, patients and communities a Shana Tova – a happy and sweet New Year – and a meaningful Yom Kippur.

Patients with learning disabilities can face barriers that makes accessing healthcare challenging.

Our Hertfordshire teams are proactively bridging the gap through the Purple Pledge of Principles, a recognition given by Hertfordshire County Council.

This work supports a wider shift towards more inclusive, person-centred care, reducing health inequalities for people with learning disabilities by giving clinicians the understanding they need to meet a variety of communication needs.

This week marks 10 years of the campaign!

At CLCH, our Asthma Community Coaches programme is helping families in Brent better understand and manage childhood asthma.

Local people are trained by our children and young people’s team to become trusted asthma coaches in their communities – sharing simple, practical advice, breaking down myths and helping families feel more confident about managing asthma.

So far, 72 community coaches have been trained, helping us take asthma support closer to families and communities.

Good oral health can have a huge impact on someone’s wellbeing, but accessing dental care is not always easy for people experiencing homelessness.

People experiencing homelessness can face significant barriers to accessing dental care which is why bringing oral health support into trusted community settings matters.

Westminster councillors recently visited The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields to see how CLCH’s Oral Health Promotion team, Homeless Dental Service, The Connection and public health colleagues are working together to improve access to support.

Through twice-monthly drop-in sessions, our Oral Health Promotion team provides practical advice, prevention support and oral health resources, helping identify needs early and connect people with further dental care where needed.

The visit highlighted how partnership working and community outreach can create a more joined-up route into services for people who may otherwise struggle to access care.

Today, thousands of young people are receiving their GCSE results and thinking about what comes next.

For some, the next step will be sixth form or college. For others, it could be an apprenticeship, training or work.

It’s important that young people can see the full range of careers available to them.

That’s why we’re working with The King's Trust to help young people from under-represented backgrounds explore careers in healthcare.
