JOINT FACTUAL CLARIFICATION
PTI UK Executive Body and PTI London Regional Executive Body
6 September 2026
Claims are circulating that PTI UK or PTI London requested the cancellation of the proposed protest outside Avenfield House. We wish to correct the record.
Neither the PTI UK Country Executive Body nor the PTI London Regional Executive Body passed, authorised or communicated any decision or instruction requiring the organisers to cancel the proposed protest.
PTI London was approached concerning the proposed activity but did not agree to organise, sponsor or officially endorse it. The organisers were not prevented from holding a lawful and peaceful protest in their personal capacity or as individual PTI supporters, subject to applicable UK law.
The only organisational concern communicated was that, without prior approval from the competent PTI Executive Body, promotional material should not present the activity as an officially authorised “PTI Protest” or use PTI’s name, emblem or official social-media platforms in a manner suggesting such authorisation.
When the poster appeared on an official PTI UK social-media platform, the PTI UK General Secretary appropriately sought clarification as to the authority under which it had been published. Its subsequent removal from that official platform was an internal verification and correction measure. It was not an instruction to cancel the protest.
We understand that the proposed protest was subsequently cancelled. That decision was neither taken nor requested by the PTI UK Country Executive Body or the PTI London Regional Executive Body.
PTI UK and PTI London remain committed to peaceful democratic expression, human rights and the political objectives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. At the same time, official PTI events and official communications must follow the Party’s prescribed decision-making and organisational processes.
We request all members and supporters to avoid speculation, personal allegations and the circulation of incomplete private communications. Organisational concerns should be raised through the appropriate Party channels so that all relevant parties have an opportunity to provide the complete facts.
This clarification is issued solely to correct the factual record and should not be interpreted as criticism of any person’s right to participate in lawful and peaceful political activity.
