Whales, dolphins and porpoises are under threat and need our protection.

At the 80th anniversary of the International Whaling Commission, the UK announced £150,000 towards a world-first global stranding database.

Strandings data can reveal important information about the risks to whales such as pollution, entanglement and boat collisions. The development of this database represents a significant advancement in global strandings science and research.

The Government has also reiterated its firm opposition to commercial whaling.
