The Water Tower is a unique Grade II listed early 18th century garden building sited in the grounds of Carshalton House in Surrey. As the name suggests, this contained a water-powered pump, which supplied water to Carshalton House and the fountains in its garden. However, the building was and is much more than this as it contains a suite of rooms such as the Saloon, the Orangery and a splendid early 18th century bathroom with a tile lined plunge bath. Aside from the Water Tower, there is the surrounding garden including the Hermitage and Folly Bridge. All this is managed voluntarily by the Friends of Water Tower & The Historic Garden Trust. The Friends open the tower on Sundays from April to September and hold events throughout the year. When the Water Tower is not in use then you are able to hire it as a venue for your ouwn functions. Sunday Update

The Water Tower is open as usual alongside the separate Carshalton House Tours organised through Sutton Borough. Tickets to which we have been informed have sold out.

At the Tower there will be Tea, Coffee and Homemade Cakes available to purchase for visitors this weekend. Last servings will be at 4.30pm.

We are proud to be supporting 10yrs of Carshalton Artists this weekend.

Displaying works around many Carshalton locations including the Water Tower. Add us to your trail itinerary with free entry to the Water Tower this Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th from 11am-5pm.

Yesterday the Friends paid tribute to John Freeman who sadly passed away last year with the dedication of the new information board about the Springhead on route to the Hermitage.

John provided many varying services over 31 years to the Tower and will be sadly missed by all.

This years Events and Openings has been uploaded to our website.

After the Tower reopens on 12th April, we have the Friends Quiz on the 17th April.

There are openings in support or Carshalton Artist Open Studios (CAOS) in the Summer, The Purcell Player return at the end of of the season, Time Past Tribute and more.
