In your twenties people will tell you to shut up about Palestine. It's very important you don't listen to those people.

It is more important now than ever to stand up for Palestine and against British complicity in genocide and apartheid. Israel is guilt of the continuation of genocide in Gaza, increasing offences in Lebanon, and expansion into the West Bank. The British government responds by shipping arms and ignoring political prisoners on hunger strike for Palestine.

Keep fighting, keep organising, Free Palestine 🇵🇸

‼️ Waltham Forest for a Free Palestine stands in full solidarity with the hunger strikers and their demands.

🍉 There are currently at least 33 political prisoners in the UK detained by the British state for their actions against Israel's genocide. After months of standing unjustly behind bars, facing many months more before they are due to stand trial, eight of these prisoners are on a collective, rolling hunger strike until their five demands are met. These political prisoners are:

Qesser, on hunger strike since 2 November
Amu, on hunger strike since 2 November
Heba, on hunger strike since 3 November
Jon, on hunger strike since 6 November
Teuta, on hunger strike since 9 November
Kamran, on hunger since 10 November
Lewie, on hunger strike since 24 November
Muhammad, on hunger strike since 5 December

Both Teuta and Kamran have been hospitalised due to deteriorating health.

Their 5 demands are as follows:
1. End all censorship
2. Immediate bail
3. Right to a fair trial
4. Drop all terror-related charges
5. Shut Elbit down

📣 It is paramount that we support and mobilise for these political prisoners as they fight against Britain's commitment to supply arms to Israel and repress the Palestine movement.

🍉‼️ POV: your council's pension fund is still invested in genocide...

In July 2024, after months of campaigning from local residents, Waltham Forest council committed to divest from Israel's genocide—specifically, to end all investments in arms companies, and to review investments in companies complicit in human rights abuses in Palestine or elsewhere.

But 17 months on, we have seen little action. We've sat in on dozens of Pension Committee meetings and the message is always the same: these investments are complex and someone else is holding up the process. The council blames their fund manager, the London Collective Investment Vehicle, which in turn blames its external fund managers. It seems there’s always someone else to blame, because everyone with power is shirking responsibility.

Last week, after a peaceful protest of 100+ local residents outside the Town Hall, we filled the public gallery for the scheduled Pension Committee meeting. After more excuses and more inaction from the Committee, we disrupted the meeting, throwing blood money down at the councillors complicit in genocide.

Protest and pressure got the council to commit to divestment in the first place. Protest and pressure will urge the council to make good on this commitment. And if they don't divest, we won't vote for them in the 2026 local elections.

🇵🇸📣 LAST NIGHT, WE SHUT DOWN THE WALTHAM FOREST PENSION COMMITTEE MEETING

💷 Blood money rained down on Waltham Forest Pension Committee members as it became clear they are still dragging their feet on divestment.

🤡 The committee were full of self-congratulations for their stance on divestment, despite still investing millions in companies colposcopy in genocide.

‼️The LCIV didn't even bother to attend the meeting, despite being scheduled to present to the committee.

📣 Our message for both the Waltham Forest Pension Committee and LCIV are clear: We want action, not words. Blood money on your hands—show us your divestment plans!
