Join the PSA team as Membership & Programmes Officer (mat cover)
We are looking for an organised and experienced membership officer to join our small, dynamic team.

This is a rewarding and varied role at heart of the PSA’s membership and programmes. The successful candidate will be the primary contact for our members, overseeing membership registrations and renewals, responding to enquiries, maintaining membership records and shaping a positive membership experience.

The Membership and Programmes Officer also supports the PSA’s Specialist Groups and our member networks for Early Career Researchers and Teaching & Learning academics.

You will support a range of PSA annual programmes and events, including our prizes, member initiatives and our popular Annual Conference, which in 2027 will be taking place at the University of Hull from 22–24 March. Alongside other members of the team, you will play an active role in event planning, preparation and delivery.

and are popular and rewarding subjects to study, on their own or in combination with other subjects.

What makes studying Politics & IR so great? In short, politics IS everything. And so those drawn to understanding and dealing with the most pressing and important questions of our world are therefore also drawn to studying Politics. From democracy to dictatorship and local councils to international organisations, the study of Politics examines how power is obtained, kept, lost, mobilised, divided, used, and abused.

Politics degrees are relevant, enjoyable, and useful. Typically, Politics and IR graduates outearn national averages. Politics & IR graduates have a strong set of skills which make them sought after with a range of employers, often leading to them earning above average salaries compared to non-graduates and other graduates.
