Joy is a longstanding friend of the Conservative Women’s Organisation and previously served on the CWO National Executive, so it is great to see her take on this important role. A fantastic advocate for women in our Party and beyond, Joy brings huge energy, experience and commitment.

It is a huge privilege to have been asked by Kemi Badenoch to join the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to take on this role and to play my part in holding Labour to account on issues that matter to women, girls and families across the country.

As we prepare for the next Conservative government and our departure from the ECHR, it is vital that we have strong and coherent equality laws that work for the British people.

There is a lot of work to do, and I’m looking forward to getting started.

Today, on Emmeline Pankhurst Day, members of the Conservative Women’s Organisation were honoured to lay a wreath at the Emmeline Pankhurst Memorial in Westminster. Delighted to be joined by Helen Pankhurst, numerous Conservative MP’s and the Conservative Party Chairman.

We remember the courage, determination and sacrifice of Emmeline Pankhurst and the suffragettes, whose tireless campaigning helped secure women’s right to vote and changed our democracy forever.

Their legacy continues to inspire women in public life and reminds us that progress is achieved through conviction, service and perseverance.

Ann Widdecombe was a formidable politician who was never afraid to speak her mind and fought hard for what she believed.

Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this heartbreaking time.

A brilliant day at the CWO National AGM and lunch today.

Fantastic to hear from inspiring speakers including Helen Grant OBE MP, National Convention President Ahmereen Reza OBE, Mims Davies MP and Baroness Stedman-Scott.

Thoughtful discussions and debate on the opportunities and challenges ahead, and a shared commitment to strengthening our Party and supporting women into leadership and public life.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising and to all those who joined us. Great to catch up with friends and colleagues from across the country.
