Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Oxford African Rebirth Diplomatic Society for a thoughtful exchange on the relationships between Belgium and African countries, with a special focus on the role of economic diplomacy.
The Society brings together African students from a wide range of disciplines at the University of Oxford who share a strong interest in diplomacy, international affairs, development, and global leadership.

✨ When Place Lux meets London! 🇧🇪🇬🇧

Yesterday, the Embassy of Belgium in the UK hosted a special Place Lux evening at the Ambassador’s residence, bringing together diplomats, policymakers, and professionals connected to Brussels and the EU.

For many, “Place Lux” brought back great memories of afterwork drinks, spontaneous conversations, and the unique Brussels vibe

We were honoured by the presence of Michael Ellam (Second Permanent Secretary in the Cabinet Office, European Union and International Economic Affairs) and EU Ambassador Pedro Serrano, a great reminder of the strong links between Belgium, the UK, and Europe.

On Tuesday 26 May, our Defence Attaché had the honour of attending a wreath-laying ceremony at the Belgian Memorial in Shorncliffe Military Cemetery.

This moving moment of remembrance paid tribute to the Belgian soldiers who found refuge and trained in the United Kingdom during the First World War, as well as those who made the ultimate sacrifice far from home.

Belgium is proud to be among the world’s Blue Leaders, a coalition of countries dedicated to safeguarding our ocean and its vital ecosystems. For many years, Belgium has played an active role in advancing ocean conservation on the international stage.

As part of this commitment, Belgium has joined the Ocean Plastics Charter, an initiative that brings together governments, businesses, and civil society to address plastic pollution through a resource-efficient, lifecycle approach, both on land and at sea.

💙 On the occasion of World Ocean Day, Belgium reaffirms its dedication to collective action and international cooperation to protect our shared ocean for future generations.

Two years after graduating from Oxford, Princess Elisabeth has officially graduated from Harvard University yesterday. What an incredible achievement and a testament to her hard work.
