History has been made!

Congratulations to both Flight Sergeant (FS) Hale and Sergeant (Sgt) Harding who received and completed the opportunity to represent the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) as part of the British Military Contingent at the 2026 Nijmegen Four-Day March.

The two completed four consecutive days, totalling 160km where they gained a Nijmegen medal 🎖️ and their Gold Road Marching badge!

Our two cadet Non-Comissioned Officers (NCOs) are the first in over a decade to receive this accolade from the unit! This is an exciting achievement to celebrate!

Once again, a huge congratulations to not only the two of them but to all 99 RAF Air Cadets and Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers (CFAV) who helped and completed this year’s march in Holland.

We can’t wait for what’s next!

The RAF Air Cadet opportunities are not limited to just within the organisation as demonstrated earlier this month, our cadets took a trip to Forest Hill Fire Station to gain an invaluable insight into what it takes to be a firefighter.

Our cadets were able to speak to the fire fighters and learn about how crucial their roles are, particularly during periods of increased risk of fire.

It was not only an enlightening experience for our cadets but simply, a fun day as they were able to wear the equipment of the firefighters and try to understand what it means to truly be a hero of the people.

More of our cadets have been elsewhere this summer at 615 Volunteer Gliding Squadron at RAF Kenley, in their first gliding session ever in the Viking T1!

Our cadets have been incredibly busy this summer reaching great heights in the Grob Tutor T1 at RAF Benson during an unforgettable Air Experience Flying (AEF) session!

The RAF Air Cadets offers this free opportunity to all cadets, allowing them to enjoy a practical, first taste of aviation.

For many cadets, the journey begins in the cockpit. Through Air Experience Flights, gliding, and advanced flying opportunities, young people can work towards Pilot Wings or even a solo flight and gaining invaluable life skills and unforgettable memories along the way.

We are so proud of our cadets making this first step.

Congratulations to Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO) Boaz Tambatamba, 19, for being selected as London Wing’s representatives put forward for the International Air Cadet Exchange.

The International Air Cadet Exchange is one of the most prestigious experiences that the Air Cadets offer to cadets where cadets exchange with other cadets around the world for 2 weeks!

Through a rigorous selection process, cadets are awarded places if they are individuals who are able to represent and act as ambassadors of not only the Air Cadets but the entirety of the United Kingdom.

This year, over 40 cadets from across the organisation were sent to over 7 countries and our CWO was 1 of the chosen!

Currently, our CWO is in Sweden for his exchange and you can see his team’s journey at Sweden 2026

Congratulations to Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO) Boaz Tambatamba, 19, for being selected as one of London Wing’s representatives put forward for the RAFAC’s Dacre Sword Competition.

The Dacre Sword is one of the highest honours in the Air Cadets, awarded to the cadet who stands out as the best all-round performer across leadership, discipline, and dedication. It represents excellence at the very top level of the RAFAC.

Last month, he had an interview with the Regional Commandant, Kevin Walton, reviewing his CWO’s cadet career over the past 7 years.

Unfortunately, our CWO did not make it through to the National stage to be one of two cadets representing London and South East Region, however, we are so very proud of all the hard work CWO has put in over the years.

The last cadet from the unit to win the Dacre Sword was one of the previous Commanding Officers, Flt Lt Wash, who had won the award when he was a CWO!

To even be considered for this award is an achievement in itself and CWO hopes to continue motivating, inspiring and leading cadets into the next generation!

Last week, 1475 (Dulwich) Squadron bid a heartfelt farewell to Cadet Warrant Officer Crespo, marking the end of an incredible 5 1/2 years of dedication and service to the RAF Air Cadets.

Throughout his time with us, CWO Crespo has been a driving force within the unit, leading training alongside CWO Tambatamba and the NCO team, mentoring cadets through the Progressive Training Syllabus, and supporting most London Wing and Sector 5 Radio Courses.

Over the years, he’s built an impressive list of achievements, including:

🥈 Silver Radio & Cyber
🥈 Silver First Aid
🥈 Silver Marksman
🥈 Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Beyond qualifications, CWO Crespo has proudly achieved more awards and has represented the squadron in numerous events:

🏅 Cadet of the Year – Royal Society of St George (2025)
🎺 Participated as a Trumpeter at the St George’s Parade with the Sector 3 Band (2024)
🇧🇪 Tri‑Service Parade in Ypres (2024) where he honoured those who served before us.
🎖️ VE Day Commemoration (2025)
✈️ RIAT 2025, working at the world’s largest military airshow.

We’re incredibly proud of everything he’s achieved and wish him the best at university and maybe one day, welcoming him back as a member of staff!
