Supporting our staff to grow and develop is an important part of our culture at OA-Havering.

Last academic year, Mohamud joined OA-Havering from London Metropolitan University to complete his Placement B as a trainee teacher. What followed was a year of professional development, new experiences and, importantly, becoming part of the academy community.

Reflecting on his experience, Mohamud shared:

"Being a trainee teacher at any school, let alone an AP, is daunting but coming here and being met with smiling faces from both staff and students helped ease my mind on my journey.”

He also highlighted the support he received from colleagues, including the academy's work to ensure he could meet the requirements of his course.

“I’ve come a long way in both my personal and professional development and that would never have been possible if I didn’t have the support of the amazing staff at OA-Havering.

It’s been a pleasure and an honour to play a small part in helping the students. I would choose this academy and this experience all over again, every single time.”

Mohamud has now completed his placement and left OA-Havering as a qualified science teacher.

We’re incredibly proud of everything he has achieved and grateful for the contribution he made to our students during his time with us. We wish him every success as he begins his teaching career.

We are incredibly proud to share that OA-Nene Valley has received an ‘Exceptional’ judgement for Inclusion and ‘Strong’ judgements across all other areas following its latest Ofsted inspection. 🎉

The academy is the first in the trust to be inspected under Ofsted's new framework, making this a particularly significant moment for us.

The report recognised the life-changing difference OA-Nene Valley makes for its pupils, stating: “This school changes pupils' lives. Pupils at this school feel safe, valued and understood.”

Inspectors found that “Inclusion is at the heart of everything that happens here”, with pupils developing a strong sense of belonging, re-engaging with education and building the confidence and skills they need for the future.

A huge congratulations to everyone at OA-Nene Valley — our pupils, staff, families and Academy Advisory Board members — on this fantastic recognition. We are incredibly proud of all that you have achieved together.

🗣️ Student voice making a real difference at OA-Thurrock.

We believe young people should play an active role in shaping their educational experience. Our Junior Leadership Team suggested introducing shorter lessons to help improve focus, engagement and learning throughout the day.

Following a successful pilot last year, 30-minute lessons were implemented across the academy and have had such a positive impact that they will continue this academic year.

The Junior Leadership Team has also put forward another idea: introducing movement breaks between sessions to support wellbeing, concentration and readiness to learn.

A fantastic example of how listening to students, acting on their feedback and working together can lead to meaningful improvements for the whole academy community.

A fantastic start to the new academic year.

It was great to bring colleagues from across Olive Academies together yesterday for our annual Trust CPD Day.

The day provided an opportunity to reconnect after the summer break, share expertise, learn from one another and strengthen the collaborative relationships that make our trust so special. With a programme shaped by colleague feedback, there was plenty of time for professional learning, discussion and networking ahead of the new school year.

We were also delighted to welcome Vicki Anstey as our guest speaker. A x2 world record-holding adventurer, entrepreneur and certified stress and resilience coach, Vicki shared her experiences and insights around stress, along with practical coping strategies to support colleagues. As a trust, we recognise that supporting our staff starts with supporting our people, and creating opportunities for colleagues to reflect on and strengthen their own wellbeing is an important part of our commitment.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success. We look forward to building on the ideas and conversations from yesterday as we continue working together to provide the very best outcomes for our students.

At OA-Cambridge, we’re proud of our three-year outreach partnership with King Hedges Primary School, working closely together to provide targeted outreach support for pupils.

Through this collaboration, our teams have been able to build positive relationships, respond to individual needs and make a meaningful difference to children’s experiences in school.

The impact of this work is clear:

"The care, consideration and partnership working is wonderful, and we genuinely see an impact in the children."

A great example of how working together can help children feel supported, understood and able to thrive.
