The NAO is an independent public body that helps Parliament hold government to account for how taxpayers’ money is spent. We provide assurance to Parliament through our audit work and add value to government by supporting its drive to improve public services. We make a real difference by working closely with government bodies to understand the challenges they face, helping them make improvements i
n important public services. Our work is wide-ranging - from health and education to transport and defence. We offer a 3 year graduate training scheme and a 5 year school leaver scheme, both leading to qualification as a chartered accountant (ACA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Join us and you will get responsibility from an early stage in your career and will play a key role in helping us make a positive impact on the nation. To help our clients improve their performance you will help deliver our financial audit work, have opportunities to work on our high profile value for money studies and gain experience working on a range of our other assurance work. Our unique role will give you access to people, places and experiences that are only available to those working at the NAO. It’s hard to imagine a more varied, and high profile group of clients which you could be working with as a graduate trainee.
