These outdoor community visits facilitate a range of activities including expressive arts, pottery, painting, music, dancing and exercise.

Attending sessions like these can be highly beneficial for individuals with learning disabilities (LD). Being out in the community helps to build confidence, independence, and a sense of inclusion, allowing individuals to feel part of something beyond their usual environment. It also provides valuable opportunities to develop social skills, form friendships, and engage positively with others.

Outdoor activities can have a calming effect and support emotional wellbeing, while also encouraging physical health through movement and exercise. Creative activities such as art, music, and pottery allow individuals to express themselves in ways that may not rely on verbal communication, helping to build self-esteem and a sense of achievement.

Overall, these sessions promote a meaningful and enjoyable experience, supporting wellbeing, personal development, and active participation in the community.

Celebrating Earth Day (April 22) teaching individuals with learning disabilities how to emphasise hands-on, sensory-rich and simple concrete measures like recycling, waste reduction and environmental stewardship. Activities that are effective involve making things with recyclables, gardening, using litter pickers for motor skills and sensory nature walks.
