Strengthening Australia–UK economic ties 🇦🇺 🇬🇧

This week, the Australian High Commission brought together leading Australian institutional investors, banks, UK Government representatives and business leaders for an Australia–UK Investment and Economic Roundtable, hosted by Deputy High Commissioner Elisabeth Bowes PSM.

Participants exchanged insights on the UK trade and investment landscape, the depth of Australia–UK economic cooperation and the strong contribution of Australian capital to the UK's long-term economic growth.

Thank you to all participants for a valuable discussion, and to ANZ Australia for its support.

In an increasingly challenging world, our relationship with the UK is deeply important, which is why I was so glad to have the opportunity meet my counterpart, Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon Wes Streeting, so soon after his appointment.

We discussed ways we can continue working together to bring a new strategic dimension to the defence relationship, which builds on our deep, historic trust and people-to-people links.

Were you a part of Australia's creative workforce at this year's Edinburgh Fringe?

Quiet RIOT have developed a short survey to improve their understanding of how creatives travel to and experience working at Edinburgh Fringe.

They want to hear from artists, producers, technicians, publicists, photographers, journalists, programmers, venue staff, tour managers, crew and more.

Every young person deserves to feel safe to be who they are.

Today is Wear It Purple day.

It is about showing up for LGBTQIA+ communities to make sure young people know they are seen, supported and never alone.

The Australian High Commission in London was proud to come together today to show our support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Australian talent takes centre stage at Edinburgh Fringe.

The Australian High Commissioner was pleased to host an Aussie Barbecue on the 26th of August in Edinburgh as a part of our Australia House Creatives program.

The event brought together some of the exceptional Australian talent on stage and behind the scenes at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe to reflect on their achievements over the past month and connect with one other.

Guests were treated to a taste of home, from quintessentially Australian snacks provided by Arnotts, to delicious wine from Jacob's Creek Endless Sunshine range - inspired by Australia's warmth, optimism and relaxed way of life.

Thanks to House of Oz for partnering with us, and to Assembly Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe for helping to make this event possible.

Well done to all the Australian performers!

Thirty years ago, Shine captivated audiences around the world and became one of Australia’s most celebrated films.

The story depicts the life of famed Australian concert pianist David Helfgott, whose life and studies in London – including at the Royal College of Music and a performance at The Duke’s Hall – inspired the highly acclaimed film.

To mark the 30th anniversary of its theatrical release this week, we’re delighted to share a special message from Scott Hicks and David Helfgott celebrating the film and its remarkable legacy.
